Player Comments:

  • "Very close match, some long rallies - very enjoyable game in warm October sunshine - lovely."  -- Tony
Reveal CommentDevrim Beyzade bt Ben Shelton (Oct 5) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "A match where seasons shifted with blinding sunlight, swirling wind, rain and finishing off under floodlit darkness. Despite the challenging conditions, it ended as a competitive, high quality spectacle under the watchful eye of coach Arthur. We both found it difficult to find our rhythm but it was evolving as a straight forward victory being up a set and with break points for 4-1 . Ben suddenly upped his level with thunderous serves, punishing forehands and blistering backhands. He won the important 5th game and broke me to love to level at 3 all. Going with serves, the matched hinged on a pivotal 11th game where there were spectacular rallies and winners. I edged this after several deuces and managed to hold for the win. Great game!"  -- Devrim
Reveal CommentBen Shelton bt Daniel Green (Oct 1) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great rallies! Ben had the edge with some fantastic 1st serves. Look forward to a re match"  -- Daniel

Reveal CommentTony Pelaou bt Ben Shelton (Sep 25) 6-1, 5-7, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Ben and I always have close matches, always goes to 3 sets. This time I scrapped the win possibly helped by that fact that Ben has only recently recovered from COVID. But Ben has the better shots, when his backhand is working, its a major weapon! Currently 2-2 with our head to heads. Despite the scores in two of the sets this was another very close match, really enjoyed it and look forward to our next game Ben."  -- Tony
Reveal CommentDevrim Beyzade bt Max Gethin (Sep 13) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable match with big serving and heavy hitting. The second set became quite tight when Max came back from 3-1 down to make it 3-3. In the end one break was enough to give me the win."  -- Devrim
Reveal CommentDevrim Beyzade bt Joseph Michael (Sep 2) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It was a pleasure to play Joseph. The match was closer than the score line suggests with 5 of his 6 service games going to deuce."  -- Devrim
Reveal CommentTony Pelaou bt Daniel Green (Aug 25) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Very enjoyable match. Lots of games were very close and we had a lot of long rally's. We also had sunshine which made a welcome change even if at this time its pretty low in the sky and played havoc with serving and general returns from one end....don't get me wrong I love the sun!!. Lovely early evening, a lot of fun."  -- Tony
Reveal CommentDevrim Beyzade bt Tony Pelaou (Aug 24) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "An entertaining match with long rallies and winners. Tony made a great come back in the topsy turvy first set. And a very gutsy last game where he saved 4 match points before I edged a competitive game. I had the luck of the net cords at important times. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable match to be part of."  -- Devrim

Reveal CommentNigel Billen bt Bruno Stone (Aug 23) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "An excellent match with Bruno on a warm summer afternoon at the Pavilion, and my first match back here since the first lockdown. The Pavilion looked great in the sun, packed with kids and a butterflies - that wildlife meadow is coming in to its own. Well played Bruno, I was lucky to stay ahead in both sets. Good luck with your next matches. "  -- Nigel
Reveal CommentJames Tzanoudakis bt Tom Sheldon (Aug 21) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "This match was unique in that it concluded with two victorious players. The rainfall - so heavy - merely surviving two sets was a win for both players. Keeps points of note... 3-3 in the first, 15-30 - Tom misses an easy volley at the net. 4-2 in the second set, 40-0 on the Tom serve - he takes a particularly aggressive rain raindrop to the eye - ends up losing the game....act of god? Possibly. Unlucky? Definitely. Fine margins determined this titanic battle of the ages. Memorable quote, “30-love - you” “Love you too” Until next time Tom, you legend. "  -- James
