One big group this time, but what a group! 33 of a possible 36 matches were played which is incredible, the tennis was first class and the commentaries generous. Everything you could want in a tennis league! Many thanks to one and all and well played!
Group Summary:
Well done Daniel K who moves from runner up last time to group champ this time with 8 strong wins! Congratulations and many thanks for the lovely commentaries. This, from Guy playing Mike, was typical: "Always a pleasure!! Great end to working week and thoroughly enjoyable sportsmanship and chit chat as ever. Thanks Mike". Then there was Daniel S's first serve against Guy - "worth the entry fee alone" and Martin and Mike playing some fantastic winning shots in cracking weather. Tennis heaven!

- "What a treat - lunchtime hit in the Autumn sun in a peaceful park! Pleasure to knock a ball with Angela - very solid and promising game/technique after only 2-years of playing again. A number of potential break points and plenty of duces but the serve was always in the locker (thankfully). Look forward to meeting up again hopefully in the Spring." -- Guy
Player Comments:
- "Dragged Daniel out of his Sunday at short notice to help me catch up with my games - thanks muchly Daniel. Perfect ace by D to start the match which was worth the entry fee alone! So good rallies as ever but managed to keep him at bay this time given his strong comeback last time we played. Always a pleasure and look forward to the next thrilling encounter. " -- Guy

- "Set 1 - good hold of serve by both to start, but Kelter took control of the match and cruised to victory. Some very good Points throughout the set. Set 2 - Kelter continued at the same pace and controlled the points and cruised to victory. Enjoyable game and some get rally's . " -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "Scrappy opening set with both players struggling on serve. No real flow to the game not helped by slippery conditions. Both players made good winning shots but just lacked consistency. Plenty of deuce games in the first set. Martin settled better in the second set and upped the tempo on serve and executed the top spin forehand consistently. Looking forward to the next meeting hopefully in dry conditions " -- Martin

- "Set 1 - strong start from both holding serves, until Kelter took control and punished any loose ball. Some good rally’s throughout and games were closer than score states. Set 2 - continued pressure from Kelter on sayers serve and holding well. Kelter took control and was the better player on the night. Lovely conditions and played in high spirit. " -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "Cracking weather for tennis. Both players hit some fantastic winning shots. Martin played a solid match with very few unforced errors. Mike started slowly but grew into the match as it went on and also hit shot of the match in the 2nd set with a blistering forehand down the line that caught the outside edge of the line. Looking forward to the next meeting. Martin " -- Martin
Player Comments:
- "Set 1 - very strong serving, from Kelter was the key making the points as short as possible. Some good rally’s and shots from both but Kelter came out on top. Set 2 - pretty much same as first set, 1 way traffic with good rally’s from both. Enjoyable game, some good shots and rally’s throughout " -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "Set 1 - Martin with a very quick start, punishing second serves with a strong winning shorts. Eased His way to 6-0 victory. Set 2 - Nip and tuck all the way through. Stayed on serve throughout and both players held excellent with long testing Rally’s for both. One game going to deuce at least 14 times which Martin won holding serving. Tired legs at end of set but Kelter took his chance and ended up breaking in last game of set winning it 7-5. Set 3 - With momentum now with Kelter, he cruised to a 5-1 advantage, still good rally’s from both but Kelter on top. A break of serve and hold give Martin life on 5-3 but Kelter saw his serve out. Excellent match, well contested, with long well fought rally’s throughout " -- Daniel

Player Comments:
- "Set 1 - very one sided set, score not reflexed on match as lot of deuce games, but Kelter showed more quality on the key points and ended up winning the set comfortably. Set 2 - a lot closer affair, strong serving from both holding serves. Good rally’s and good winning shots from both players. Kelter did end up breaking the Serve and went onto victory. Very enjoyable game and some great rally’s. " -- Daniel
Player Comments:
- "Welcome to the league Martin - great addition and you will do just fine. Lovely way to end the weekend with good solid tussle throughout - match swinging all ways with good battling spirit and chances on both sides. When that forehand gets grooved back in, we are all in trouble. Nice one Martin and look forward to next thrilling instalment. " -- Guy

Reveal CommentDaniel Kelter bt Guy Forrest-Hay (Sep 6) 7-5, 7-6 (8-6)Player Comments:
- "Excellent opening game played. Both players put everything in. Set 1 - very close encounter. Excellent Rally’s and winning shots though out. Guy went 5-3 up, but Kelter ended up coming back strong into the set and won 4 hard fought games on the bounce which could of gone either way. Set 2 - again long rally’s, excellent play from both, guy again 5-3 up but Kelter came back to level at 5-5. 2 hold of serves brought a tie break. Which Kelter ended up edging but again could of gone either way. Excellent constant which could of been won by either player. " -- Daniel
