Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable (and long!) match against George, who is coming back into tennis, so had a little rust to dust off. He had done that by the 2nd set and was hitting the ball very well indeed, with some long rallies and good periods of play from both of us. The final set was very close and all came down to a few points going my way. George is a great addition to the league, being an extremely fair and fun guy to play with!"  -- James

Player Comments:

  • "Great to be back playing and a tough first game against Oli who was hitting some absolute monster serves and big top spin forehands! Really close first set, and could have easily gone the other way. Always a fun match with Oli - look forward to the next one!"  -- James

Player Comments:

  • "A great match that took us way past 10pm, with some great rallies, that had both of us gasping for air and praying that we wouldn't be the first one to cramp up! For quite some time I thought that we would end up having to stop and play another day. I was fortunate enough to win the important points when it mattered. And we can't wait to play again, we've already making plans for next week. Nice meeting and playing against you Sunil, I am definitely going to feel this in the morning. Good luck with the rest of your matches."  -- Georgios

Player Comments:

  • "Andrea hadn’t played for a while but we started out with the first few serve games each won comfortably. From 4-3 a break in the 8th game was enough for the first set. Second set score doesn’t reflect some close rallies. Very enjoyable match and good luck with your other games Andrea. Thanks, Colin"  -- Colin

Reveal CommentGeorgios Chatzakis bt Colin Byers (Jan 21) 4-6, 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A great game against Colin, who was playing his first game for the LTL competition. Very solid player with a great serve, held his nerve and clinched the first set. My serve got a bit more consistent in the second and managed to hold my serve and eventually level the match. In the 3rd set I changed tactics a little bit and it payed off, I broke and held serve quickly and I was 3 up which helped me relax and enjoy the match more. Thank you for the invitation Colin, good luck with the rest of your games."  -- Georgios
  • "Thanks for being my first LTL opponent Georgios - I wasn’t sure what to expect but we had a good match up although you ran away with the final set. Great experience for me with Georgios solid game finding great drop shots followed by accurate lobs… look forward to another match with Georgios and good luck rest of this round !" -- Colin

Player Comments:

  • "What a ding, dong match. The final set was very similar to the 2nd set. In the 2nd set, I served 1st and after what seemed like 20 deuces, Liz broke my serve. Then raced into a 3-0 lead, then 5-2, I broke back and it was 5-4 before Liz held her serve to win the 2nd set. We reconvened on Tuesday 31 January for a 1 set decider. I held my serve, then broke Liz's and got to 3-0, then 4-2, Liz then rallied and was 5-4 ahead before I managed to edge it 7-5. A great match which was spoilt a little by external influences e.g. the players on another court. Good luck in the rest of your matches!"  -- Phil
