Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

Getting started

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

For everything you need to know before you get started see the FAQs and review the Rules and Regulations, which all players agree to adhere to when playing in the leagues.

If there is anything else you need help with get in contact with Nigel, Sally and the team who will be happy to help!

I would firstly like to thank you both for the wonderful organisation of this league, this was the first time I entered anything competitive and I must say the regular updates and organisation was superb. I enjoyed myself very much!

"The league is a fantastic thing especially for me since I have always played indoors and this was a revelation to me,"

Sreejith Vijayendran

"It was a really competitive and enjoyable round. Played a few new faces which was good to see. All matches were played in good spirit and my tennis has improved. Really looking forward to the next round. Thanks to the organisers Nigel and Sally, doing a tremendous job,"

Zafar Iqbal

"The round was great. Enjoyable matches and plenty of fun,"

Luke Tunyich

"Thanks to your vision and great organisational skills I am now able to enjoy myself more in a sport. I am a league champion 22 months after first holding a tennis racket, wow!"

Seth Sarfo

"The league is a nice concept and I can see that you must put a lot of work into all of the leagues that you organise.  All the people I met were really friendly and fair in their play. I will definitely enter again later in the year,"

Lindsay Kass

Reveal CommentAnees Ikramullah bt Bleddyn Williams (Oct 14) 0-6, 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Well Bleddyn came flying out the traps but thankfully I could compose myself after a first set mauling! Absolutely knackered at the end of this one. Thoroughly enjoyable game!"  -- Anees
Reveal CommentAnees Ikramullah bt Tadas Kanciauskas (Oct 11) 4-6, 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A tough game that took me a while to get going. Tadas was hitting clean and giving me the run around the court but fortunately I could keep calm and keep forcing him to play shots on the run. Really enjoyable match - still feeling the affects 2 days later!"  -- Anees
Carlos Tyler bt Bleddyn Williams (Sep 24) 6-3, 6-0
Reveal CommentSeth Sarfo bt Anees Ikramullah (Sep 16) 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable match. Seth's spin had me in trouble on a skiddy surface. Fought back well whenever I thought I had ascendancy. Overall a very hard-fought match but commend Seth on his victory. He commanded the last set to see it through to victory."  -- Anees

Current Rankings:

Match Results:

Kamran Bashir bt Karan Sood (Oct 8) 6-1, 6-0
Reveal CommentCurtis Sinclair bt Faisal Chaudhry (Sep 28) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Unfortunately, the first set was played on a wet and very unpredictable surface. Thankfully, another court dried out enough to safely play for most of the second set. Faisal played high percentage tennis and built up leads in the first and second set but was unable to convert those leads. A tough match! Well played Faisal. "  -- Curtis
Reveal CommentCurtis Sinclair bt Sajeev Nair (Sep 27) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Sajeev is a much better player than the scoreline would suggest, in my opinion, but chose to slice off both wings for 99% of his shots. Given the one-sided score of the first set and the fact that during the warm-up Sajeev had a decent topspin forehand, I was surprised he did not change tactics. I have no doubt the match would've been more competitive had he changed his tactics. I guess that's tennis for you. "  -- Curtis
Reveal CommentCurtis Sinclair bt Kamran Bashir (Sep 24) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Another glorious day for tennis. A competitive first set with a number of breaks of serves early on. The first set was seemingly decisive and decided on a long ninth game on Kamran's serve with there being several game and break points. Some quality winners and rallies from both sides. Look forward to meeting up and having a hit again very soon. "  -- Curtis
Curtis Sinclair bt Karan Sood (Sep 18) 6-1, 6-0
Reveal CommentKamran Bashir bt Sajeev Nair (Sep 16) 7-5, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Match was played on a tricky surface that offered a lot of spin despite it being sticky after overnight rain. Kamran started well but Sajeev took the lead and played really well with his slices and drop shots to take the score to 5-3. Kamran raised his game and managed to win 10 straight games to take the match. Well played Sajeev! "  -- Kamran
