Player Comments:

  • "Was a really fun match. I was actually playing the best I have for a long time, and Dan was still too good. He played well, and had some really really good passing shots. He won despite not having a good serving day! Well played, looking forward to a rematch!!"  -- Asith
Daniel Gilberthorpe bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 29) 6-1, 6-1
Reveal CommentAsith Nagodavithane bt Pandelis Stavrou (Jul 27) 2-6, 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Quite a close game. And it could have gone either way at the end. Really enjoyed playing. Thanks for the hit."  -- Asith
Reveal CommentAsith Nagodavithane bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 22) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Great fun game with Oliver. We play similar styles. Oliver had just played a long game the night before which definitely helped me. His serve started to get faster at the end of the game. But lots of good rallies. Reallly enjoyed the hit, hopefully see you more around the tennis courts! "  -- Asith
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Lukasz Szczukiewicz (Jul 22) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Score doesn't reflect the level and intensity of the game . It was full of long exchanges using full dimensions of the court. We both run a lot and left lots of sweat on court. Lukasz strikes the ball well on both sides. He plays very strong and consistent backhand, especially cross court on the run. I couldn't break it down. Both sets had very similar scenario. I was able to break Lukasz's serve at the beginning of the set, giving myself head start.Lukasz then had to play catch up and that had an impact on the rest of each set. There were very crucial few games in each set were we pushed each other hard having to defend lots of breakpoints. Luckily I managed to defend them slightly better today. Great battle Lukasz! Lets do it again soon!"  -- Krzysztof
Pandelis Stavrou bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 21) 4-6, 7-5, 6-1
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Asith Nagodavithane (Jul 19) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Hot, sunny afternoon, perfect for tennis match. We had a great game with Asith although the result doesn't reflect it. Asith hits the ball beautifully and has nice top spin on his forehand. He also serves well. However he is missing match experience and that made the difference today. He allowed me to push him into defence too many times. We had lots of long, interesting exchanges with power, placement and plenty of topspin. It's been great to meet you Asith. Good luck with your remaining matches."  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 16) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Ideal day for tennis!Sunny, warm afternoon. Oliver was hitting the ball well but it was quite evident that he is lacking match experience. He was serving great in warm-up but couldn't produce the same consistency and quality of the serves in the game. You've got all the shots and movement to play better, competitive tennis but you need to play more matches and practice those shots under pressure Oliver. It was good to hit with you. Good luck for the rest of the league Oli!"  -- Krzysztof
  • "Krzysztof played really well, attacking and accurate I celebrate the one game I managed and had a great sunny afternoon! :)" -- Oliver
Reveal CommentDaniel Gilberthorpe bt Pandelis Stavrou (Jul 14) 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), [10-5]

Player Comments:

  • "A really fun and competitive game - either of us could have won and I can’t wait to play against Pan again!"  -- Daniel
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Daniel Gilberthorpe (Jul 13) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Daniel started cautiously, making quite a few unforced errors and double faults therefore I was able to take advantage of it and win the 1st set relatively quickly. However, in the 2nd set Daniel really got his teeth into the game raising his level. He was much more consistent from the back of the court, using my power well, retrieving almost all my balls and making very few mistakes. My 1st serve abandoned me and out of a sudden I had a proper battle on my hands. We had lots of long and brutal rallies, running corner to corner. Each time I though I run Daniel down he was able to find extra energy and continued retrieving most of my balls back. Great game Daniel! You really pushed me today. Keep playing regularly and good things will happen"  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Alexandru Tataru (Jul 9) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Finally we managed to have our long awaited battle as on the 1st attempt heavy rain forced off the court before we even started. Today conditions were perfect. As usually Alex the wall was getting many balls back forcing me to play closer to the lines and harder. His retrieving ability and movement on the court is 2nd to none. I was aware of his tactics and type of game therefore I was mentallt ready for those long, brutal exchanges. My priority was about having healthy balance between attacking and not allowing too many unforced errors. Luckily for me I got that balance right today. My decent 1st serve deposition and solid volleys/overheads also helped me a lot. Another great battle Alex! You pushed me hard today!" -- Kris
  • ""Kris gave me another tennis lesson today which is well received :). To be honest he's at least one level above me in every department. His serve is powerfull and has a lot of kick on it which makes it hard to produce a good enough return to have a chance to make something out of it. The backhand slice is very hard to retrieve as it goes very low which gave me a lot of headaches. As well his net play is very powerfull and manages to finish the point quite easily. Defensively, as well, Kris has very good skills and he knows how to position himself in order to transform it into counterattack. Overall, Kriss is a much better player, more solid than I am." -- Alex
Reveal CommentAlexandru Tataru bt Asith Nagodavithane (Jul 8) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "We had a fun match today. Asith is coming back to playing after a long lockdown and that was to his disadvantage today. And if that wasn't enough his strigns broke after playing only a few games and he was forced to play with a racket that he's wasn't used to. Nevertheless he has some beautiful shots with a lot of topspin. I'm sure that after a few matches he'll be more tough to play against. Nice meeting you Asith and good luck in your next matches. "  -- Alexandru
Reveal CommentLukasz Szczukiewicz bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 8) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lukasz played very well and really found his form in the 2nd set. It was an enjoyable sunny evening."  -- Oliver
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Pandelis Stavrou (Jul 5) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Great to meet Pani and have a good game. We had nice and exciting rallies. Pani has good technique, striking the ball well but I think he is lacking match experience and that determined the outcome of our match. We were so lucky to finish just before the rain became consistent, wetting the court. Good luck with the league Pani."  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentAlexandru Tataru bt Daniel Gilberthorpe (Jul 5) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Not playing for a quite a while a match had its say on Daniel's game. To be fair, the score was a bit tough and doesn't reflect the reality on the court. Actually we had a lot of long disputed rallies but Daniel's unforced errors helped me a lot today. He had quite a few chances to win games but I guess the god of tennis was on my side today. Nice meeting you Daniel and good luck on the next matches. "  -- Alexandru
Lukasz Szczukiewicz bt Pandelis Stavrou (Jul 5) 6-0, 6-0
Reveal CommentAlexandru Tataru bt Oliver Flindall (Jul 4) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Having played Oliver before, we both knew what to expect from one another. Obviously, today wasn't a good day for Oliver as he didn't seem to find his best shots throughout the match. I guess he was more tense than he usually is which made him committing a lot of errors. Nevertheless he possess a beatiful serve, a lot better than mine actually, but again he's efficiency wasn't there. I'm pretty sure he'll improve a lot in the next matches. Good luck Oliver! "  -- Alexandru
  • " Alex played really well!" -- Oliver
Reveal CommentAlexandru Tataru bt Lukasz Szczukiewicz (Jul 1) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Beautiful day for tennis today. Lukasz proved to be a very strong player to play against. With very solid shots on his arsenal he made the game very interesting. Unfortunately for him, Lukasz was overhitting too much in the first set which made him loose the first set quite easily. In the second he changed the tactics and started to play more careful and consequently me more prone to errors. This proved to be the right choice as he found himself taking a 3-1 lead on the scoreboard. A few double faults here and there coupled with some unforced errors from Lukasz made me comeback and close the 2nd set and the match. It was a bit nerve-racking match as we both were trying to limit our mistakes but overall a very enjoyable and fun match. "  -- Alexandru
Reveal CommentLukasz Szczukiewicz bt Asith Nagodavithane (Jun 28) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It was nice to meet Asith and play a match with him on a warm, windless day. We had some long exchanges and enjoyable rallies. Best of luck for the rest of your matches. "  -- Lukasz
Reveal CommentAlexandru Tataru bt Pandelis Stavrou (Jun 27) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The score was a bit harsh comparing to the reality on the ground. Pandelis started the match with an ace and luckily for me he didn't continued like that, on the contrary he made quite a few double faults. Unfortunately for him, Pandelis tried to many times to go for the winner which made him prone to more unforced errors than me. Otherwise the final result would be totally different as he has a much better technique than me. Really enjoyable match played on Sunday cloudy afternoon under the constant threat of rain."  -- Alexandru

Reveal CommentRob Hollinshead bt Rags Martel (Jul 30) 4-6, 7-5, [10-6]

Player Comments:

  • "A toothy battle, as always, with Mr Martel. Didn’t feel I played well enough to have taken the spoils and I got lucky in a few key moments, but there were flashes of exhibition tennis from both. The time came when we couldn’t keep our respective evening’s entertainees waiting any longer, and we invoked the championship tiebreak. Looking forward to next time, Rags!"  -- Rob
Maximilian Rudolf bt Kartik Subramanian (Jul 28) 7-6 (7-2), 6-2
Reveal CommentToby Barton bt Rags Martel (Jul 25) 6-4, 4-6, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Hard fought match and a decent standard; not too many unforced errors and Rags’ forehand was on fire and ripping through my usual defensive game. Rags had match point at 5-4, 40-30 but for once the forehand let him down and there was a minor slump after that which I took advantage of. Looking forward to another clash next league."  -- Toby

Good luck with the rest of your matches."  -- Maximilian
Reveal CommentRob Hollinshead bt Toby Barton (Jul 17) 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), [10-8]

Player Comments:

  • "We were both trying out new rackets with predictably dire results. Rob made the judicious decision to return to his trusted weapon after a set whilst I laboured on putting every forehand in the net. Rob graciously agreed a deciding CTB as I had issues at home and although he hates this format quickly went 9-3 up before getting tight but hit a s*** or bust two hander at 9-8 to secure victory." -- Toby

Player Comments:

  • "First set my forehand worked very well and Rob struggled a bit with his new Racket. Second my strings broke and i had to change racket which put me a bit off track and Rob 1:4 up. I managed to come back and close the match playing very secure and hoping for unforced errors from Rob which he kindly provided. Good luck with the remaining matches!"  -- Maximilian

Player Comments:

  • "A fantastic match in post-downpour humidity. A marathon 2nd set with multiple deuce games was finally won by Paul on tie-break and we thought we may run out of light. The tennis got better as the match went on and I was fortunate to see it out. "  -- Ian

But it happened, with a exhausting first set finished with a tie-break, a second set played at 30'C and an 1h long third set with 7 deuces in a game and rallies with all kind of shots: lobs, volleys, shots on the lines.
