  • "Very entertaining match with Dan."  -- Alvaro
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Lukasz Szczukiewicz (Oct 3) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "That was a difficult match on a windy day. We both struggled with the rhythm in 1st set. Lots of short rallies and quick points as it was difficult to keep the fast flying balls in the court. Lukasz made more unforced errors and that was decisive factor in the 1st set. The real battle started in the 2nd set where Lukasz raised the level and started pressurising me during my service games. His comeback was in 7th game when after very long and hard battle Lukasz broke back and seemed to have momentum on his side. We then saved our serves all the way to the end until I managed to brake Lukasz in his very last service game. It was very close set and could've gone either way. Thanks for the game and good luck with your remaining matches Lukasz! "  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Victor Hugo Cotoski (Sep 26) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Very close game on a perfect day for tennis. Returning Victor's serve gives you very little room for mistake. Your reaction and timing of the ball has to be spot on as Victor is most likely to approach the net so if you just push the ball back he will kill it with the volley. The only break points I managed to get were actually when we both stayed around baseline. It was very enjoyable match as Victor plays well with lots of serve and volley. Only one break of serve in 2nd set decided the result of the match. I hope we can have many more matches in future as it was quite even game and only a very few balls decided the result. Good Luck with your remaining matches Victor."  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentLukasz Szczukiewicz bt Alvaro Cordero (Sep 24) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Another glorious day to play tennis. Great battle with Alvaro with lots of quality exchanges. Thanks for the match Alvaro and best of luck with the remaining matches. "  -- Lukasz
Reveal CommentMaximilian Rudolf bt Victor Hugo Cotoski (Sep 18) 4-6, 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Brilliant match with Victor, who is a excellent addition to the Richmond tennis league. He not just has most likley the best serve i've seen in all my years in this league (hit around 10 aces), but also brings the lost art of serve and volley to Richmond. Luckily for me, my feet where quite fast today and I managed to return several balls Victor already counted to his scorecard. Thank you very much for a great game and hope to play soon again. "  -- Maximilian
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Jean-Michel Jacob (Sep 17) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Nice to play Jean-Michel in the league again on a perfect, windless day. We started 1st set with couple of tight games but then as the match progressed JM started to make quite a few unforced errors and that gave me the edge. J M is a good ball striker but it wasn't his day today. Good to see you back in the league Jean-Michel. I'm sure you will shake off all that rust as you play more machts. Good luck with the rest of the league! "  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Alvaro Cordero (Sep 14) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Another great battle with Alvaro on a very humid day.Result definitely doesn't reflect intensity of the match. It was a battle full of very close games.Only a few points here and there made the difference. Alvaro was pushing me hard and I was forced to defend many breakpoints in both sets. We both started 1st set having to defend multiple breakpoints on our serves. I then managed to get ahead and defend my own service games. In 2nd set Alvaro broke my serve in the very 1st game.I managed to break back in next game and then we had couple of close games before I broke Alvaro serve again, saved multiple breakpoints on my own serve and broke again to close the match. It's been a privilege to play such a great player. Good Luck Alvaro!"  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentLukasz Szczukiewicz bt Daniel Gilberthorpe (Sep 13) 4-6, 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "It was a perfect, windless day to play a match. In the first set Dan played very well, defended and counterattacked, which resulted in him winning the first set. In the second and third set I started playing more aggressively and made less unforced errors. Thanks Dan for the match and good luck with the other matches. "  -- Lukasz
Jean-Michel Jacob v Victor Hugo Cotoski (Sep 12) 6-4 TBC
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Maximilian Rudolf (Sep 12) 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "What a long battle on a perfect, warm day!Max is a great, competitive player. He was trying to blast me off the court with his big forehand in the 1st set. It was very tight set with momentum swinging between us. Max started strong and broke me at the beginning of the set, making me to play catch up almost to the end of it. I managed to finally equalise and close tiebreak had to decide the winner. We both invested lots of energy in that close 1st set however, I was more desperate to win the 2nd set hence I stepped up the gear and Max slightly lost his concentration. In 3rd set it was about the last man standing as we were both physically so spent having to play lots of long rallies and close games. We definitely left it all out there today."  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentKrzysztof Mikstacki bt Daniel Gilberthorpe (Sep 7) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was a long and painful battle today in these brutal conditions. Dan knows my game very well by now therefore he really pushed me today, making me play so many long points and games. His stamina on court is great. He must've run a marathon today in this hit and yet at the end of 2nd set he looked more energetic than me as he was trying to extend that set at all cost. In the end we both agreed that this was the closest much between us and he pushed me the hardest today. You have great spirit and energy on court Daniel. Keep it going. Thanks for the game and good luck with the rest of your matches Dan! Lets do it again after the league."  -- Krzysztof
Reveal CommentMaximilian Rudolf bt Daniel Gilberthorpe (Sep 6) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Daniel the Warrior!!! bringing back everything I threw on him. Took me awhile to adjust to Dan's ball maschine like style and had to change my game several times as my net-play let me down and at the end it seemed only pure violance was the way through this wall which led  to many errors. Did,nt help much that the thermometer showed 28 degrees. Well done Dan and looking forward to our next encounter. "  -- Maximilian

Player Comments:

  • "Weather (pretty much) held. Luckily for me, Rags didn't send too many of his big slammer serves over today. Some good battling from both ends and fortune favoured me at a couple of key points, but as much a matter of error management on both sides today. Looking forward to the next battle, Rags. Always a pleasure."  -- Rob

Rags then started to play confidently and more consistently in the 2nd set. It was the last 2 games of this match where we both played well at same time. Rags saved 5 match points in some great rallies. Had fun Rags!"  -- Asith

Reveal CommentToby Barton bt Rags Martel (Sep 18) 7-6 (7-1), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Rags got the first break at 4-4 but then handed me a lifeline with a poor service game and yesterday’s tie breaks with Rob helped me sail through this one 7-6. Rags was then struggling with back pain in the second set which put paid to any turnaround."  -- Toby

Not a bad match under lights with both of us going for our shots albeit I was hampered by my specs steaming up every time I breathed, this being the first colder evening for a while and not something I’ve had to consider since lockdown."  -- Toby

  • "Great to play Gareth, who was unfortunate to play me at my best, where most shots I hit were painting the base line & finding crazy acute angles on both ground strokes. I don't think I've ever played so consistently at that level before & it felt good. I think on a normal day at the office for me, it would've been a closer game. Gareth has all the shots but I found some magicon the day. I was happy to play at that level l, a level that I know is in me but am unable to to reach consistently. Gareth was a gent and we had a great chats about tennis and I'm already looking forward to playing again in the future where I am sure it will be closer. "  -- Anthony

Really good hitting from both sides resulting in some high quality rallies, really nice tennis. Olivia has a solid game and hits with great length, spin & depth on both sides. Tough challenge ! One highlight was a spectating fox that sat and watched us play for most of the match. It came to the fence and tried to get a ball, so we threw one over and the fox played with the ball much a like a dog. Thanks for the support Fox. Well played Olivia and good luck with your games.
