Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

Getting started

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

For everything you need to know before you get started see the FAQs and review the Rules and Regulations, which all players agree to adhere to when playing in the leagues.

If there is anything else you need help with get in contact with Nigel, Sally and the team who will be happy to help!

Everything what I was doing she had an answer for and she went 4-0 and 5-3 up in the last set testing everybody's nerves, composure and drive to win. Reveal CommentGareth Clark bt Laura Campari (Jul 16) 7-5, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A gloriously topsy-turvy game that began with Laura scrambling, ferreting and fossicking her way magnificently to a 5-1 lead. Then, like a switch being flicked, the match turned on its head: 11 of the next 12 games tumbled my way, in between a pair of hard-fought deuce games that sizzled in the late evening sun. A hugely enjoyable match with a couple of lightbulb moments as we took turns to unpick each other’s tactics. Great fun. "  -- Gareth
Reveal CommentJuan Menacho bt James Meurer (Jul 11) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The distraction of the pub garden crowds during the England v Croatia match is a scant excuse. Totally out-classed on the day, I suspect Juan and I will be leaving this group in opposite directions! Nice to meet you Juan - really enjoyed our game," -- James.
Reveal CommentDan Stalker bt Gareth Clark (Jul 7) 7-6 (7-3), 4-3 Gareth Clark Retired

Player Comments:

  • "A gruelling match in just unbearable heat. Dan fared better than I did, as the first set shimmered in the sun, and was a gent as I struggled in 30C temperatures. At 4-3 down in the second, I was just spent (and there was the small matter of an England game to consider). A true pleasure to play, though, and a good game of contrasting styles and the odd heavy hit. "  -- Gareth
Juan Menacho bt Laura Campari (Jul 7) 6-1, 6-1
Reveal CommentGareth Clark bt James Meurer (Jul 5) 7-6 (8-6), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A sliver of a first set was eventually ironed out in a fraught tiebreak on a night that slid from pore-loosening, limb-wilting humidity to bucketing rain. Little separated us in the first 12 games, including a mutual inability to put away our service games and James wondrously running down one lob to turn it into a winner. Even the tiebreak went to 6-6 before I inched a lead and served it out. The second set didn’t match the chaotic grandeur of the hugely enjoyable first, as we both felt a little heavy legged and I built a quickfire lead. Great fun nonetheless. "  -- Gareth
Reveal CommentLaura Campari bt James Meurer (Jun 27) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely night to play. Also great to play at Hampton Sports & Fitness Centre for the first time - nice floodlit courts. Laura's consistency and great passing shots had me on the ropes every time I started making progress. Good fun. "  -- James

Dan Stalker bt Laura Campari (Jun 25) 6-1, 6-3
Reveal CommentDan Stalker bt Marco Laezza (Jun 20) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Thanks for the match Marco! You served well and I suspect if you had been playing with your proper tennis racket the scores would tell a different story. Luckily for me it didn't go to a 3rd set but instead we got to enjoy a cool beer over the road. Nice to meet you."  -- Dan
Reveal CommentRodolfo Odoni bt Gareth Clark (Jun 17) 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "In the rather plush surrounds of the Bank of England Club, only Rodolfo's assured forehand and accurate corner balls did justice to the location. The first set was gone in a flash, with little but the odd ace to show for my troubles; the second was a far tighter affair after Rodolfo pulled away quickly at first. Then his jitters and a bit of form (on my part) reeled the games slowly back in, but it wasn't meant to be. He finally served out the match to love. "  -- Gareth
