- "It was a pleasure playing with Rags. He is a great serve & volley player and he was really understanding when I asked him if we could play at 6 instead of 7 due to have enough light to play, throughout the match he always asked me if I found the light sufficient enough to continue. I really appreciated it. " -- Lina

- "Lioness Lina!!!!!!! This was the most interesting match I've played in the league so far. Lina's technique and competitiveness pushed the match into a crazy 3rd set. Everything what I was doing she had an answer for and she went 4-0 and 5-3 up in the last set testing everybody's nerves, composure and drive to win. Luckily managed to catch up and push the mach in the tiebreak which was close as well until 5-4. Thank you you for the match Lina, I will not forget it and hopefully we will play again without the League stress. Good luck with the next ones!" -- Mihai

Player Comments:
- "What started out as a simple match, ended in an epic battle. Max was comfortably 4-0 up in the 1st set before it turned into a contest. (One game in the 2nd set lasted almost 20 minutes.) Don’t think there was an injury to Max’s retirement - more exhaustion as we both did too much running! Great match Max. See you soon. " -- Rags

Group Summary:

It was therefore of little surprise that the race for top spot was very close too. James and Hammad both finished with six wins and bonus points under their belt to tie on a mammoth fifteen points. The match between the two therefore comes into play and this was an "epic, epic and epic display of consistency and power", where James eventually emerged with a 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 victory to take the title by the narrowest of margins.

- "We played on grass which was really nice in the hot weather. I was fairly competitive in the first set but Chris was cruising in the second set. I tried to break his rhythm by going into the net, but I messed up the volleys. Chris finishes unbeaten with 7 wins out of 7 and is the well deserved winner of the league." -- Laurence
Player Comments:
- "We started about 7 pm and the rallies were very long. We both wanted to finish the match before it got dark, so to try and shorten the rallies we both tried venturing up to the net, with mixed results. Overall it was an enjoyable match with good rallies and played in a sporting spirit." -- Laurence

- "We started the match bright and early at 7am. There we lots of deuce games in the first set and Ben got a lot stronger in the 2nd set. His 1st serves were harder and more consistent but I just managed to edge it after a tense end to the set. Thanks for the game Ben!" -- Alex

- "When I arrived at the courts the temperature according to the car dashboard was 34 degrees, but we both wanted to play and finish the match despite the heat. Aman hit many winning shots but I just managed to get enough of his power shots back to stay in the rallies and win enough points to keep ahead. Thanks for the game Aman, and I look forward to our next match." -- Laurence
Player Comments:
- "As the grass was still being cut when we arrived at the courts, we had a nice breakfast before the match. Once the match started, it was clear that Chris is a very proficient player. A nice developed topspin on his shots and a lovely single handed backhand. I got a bit more used to the grass court in the 2nd set but Chris’ accuracy was too much for me and he ended up winning comfortably. A really fun match on beautiful courts and it was great to meet you Chris. Hopefully we can play again soon. " -- Alex

- "Match was closer than the score shows! The first game it was epic! I think it lasted at least 15 min! I really enjoyed playing Ben. Luckily this game plan paid off, so I've managed to balance our own head-to-head scoreboard. Well played Ben, and enjoy the rest of your matches" -- Oliver

This group went to the wire as Adrian and Ersan finished level on nine points at the top. Unfortunately we didn't see a head to head between the two so we need to do some number crunching to determine who takes home the prize. The congratulations go to Adrian this time who just pips Ersan to the crown thanks to fewer sets conceded. Hats off also to Benjamin for playing the most matches.

Laura Campari bt Marco Laezza (Jul 18) 5-7, 6-4, 6-3Player Comments:
- "Despite the court surface — I’m surprised NASA don’t practice at Kneller Gardens, such is its similarity to a moonscape — there was plenty of fun to be had, as the odd surprising bounce made things a little unpredictable. Tricky serves aplenty from both sides dominated proceedings, as the games ticked away and the sinking sun glanced off flashing rackets. Great fun. " -- Gareth
Player Comments:
- "A gloriously topsy-turvy game that began with Laura scrambling, ferreting and fossicking her way magnificently to a 5-1 lead. Then, like a switch being flicked, the match turned on its head: 11 of the next 12 games tumbled my way, in between a pair of hard-fought deuce games that sizzled in the late evening sun. A hugely enjoyable match with a couple of lightbulb moments as we took turns to unpick each other’s tactics. Great fun. " -- Gareth
Player Comments:
- "The distraction of the pub garden crowds during the England v Croatia match is a scant excuse. Totally out-classed on the day, I suspect Juan and I will be leaving this group in opposite directions! Nice to meet you Juan - really enjoyed our game," -- James.
Player Comments:
- "A gruelling match in just unbearable heat. Dan fared better than I did, as the first set shimmered in the sun, and was a gent as I struggled in 30C temperatures. At 4-3 down in the second, I was just spent (and there was the small matter of an England game to consider). A true pleasure to play, though, and a good game of contrasting styles and the odd heavy hit. " -- Gareth
Player Comments:
- "A sliver of a first set was eventually ironed out in a fraught tiebreak on a night that slid from pore-loosening, limb-wilting humidity to bucketing rain. Little separated us in the first 12 games, including a mutual inability to put away our service games and James wondrously running down one lob to turn it into a winner. Even the tiebreak went to 6-6 before I inched a lead and served it out. The second set didn’t match the chaotic grandeur of the hugely enjoyable first, as we both felt a little heavy legged and I built a quickfire lead. Great fun nonetheless. " -- Gareth
Player Comments:
- "Lovely night to play. Also great to play at Hampton Sports & Fitness Centre for the first time - nice floodlit courts. Laura's consistency and great passing shots had me on the ropes every time I started making progress. Good fun. " -- James
Player Comments:
- "Thanks for the match Marco! You served well and I suspect if you had been playing with your proper tennis racket the scores would tell a different story. Luckily for me it didn't go to a 3rd set but instead we got to enjoy a cool beer over the road. Nice to meet you." -- Dan
Player Comments:
- "In the rather plush surrounds of the Bank of England Club, only Rodolfo's assured forehand and accurate corner balls did justice to the location. The first set was gone in a flash, with little but the odd ace to show for my troubles; the second was a far tighter affair after Rodolfo pulled away quickly at first. Then his jitters and a bit of form (on my part) reeled the games slowly back in, but it wasn't meant to be. He finally served out the match to love. " -- Gareth
