If it's March, it must be Mallorca

Fed up with the weather? Need a break playing tennis? Come to Mallorca this March!

What is the appropriate response if, in the middle of a Grand Slam match, you hit a ball girl with a hard-struck ball? When it happened to Rafa Nadal at the Australian Open this week, he ran over to the girl, checked if she was ok and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek.
It was a very human response from a global superstar but Rafa, as everyone who knows him will tell you, is a very humble guy. If you want to get closer to what he is all about and, just possibly, run into him yourself, there is no better way than going to the Rafa Nadal Academy next to his home town in Manacor, Mallorca.

Will you be a a Rafa winner?

Will you be a Rafa Winner this March?

There are two tournaments coming up.

The first, which runs from 1-8 March, is a bit like playing Local Tennis Leagues but under bluer skies, in warmer weather and with the matches all organised for you. Oh, and you can win a week’s holiday at the RNA or, if you runner up, a long weekend.

The second tournament runs directly after the first, from 8-17 March. The categories (singes, doubles and mixed doubles) are the same, but there are a couple of important differences. This is an ITF (International Tennis Federation) Seniors tournament, so you must be over 35 to play, and you need to get an IPIN number from the ITF here (let us know if you have any difficulties with this). You get ITF points rather than prizes and the standard is higher than the first tournament – at least one of the top groups of most of our leagues, though if you are in any doubt, just check with us.

But everyone is welcome so (complete beginners apart) if you would like to play, don’t be shy! At the end of the day, most of us end up in the spa, which can include a hot steam, sauna, cold plunge pool and then a choice of pool to relax in, followed by a delicious dinner with your new tennis friends. Local Tennis Leagues will be going to both tournaments and bringing everyone together, so don't worry about coming on your own!

Prefer coaching to tournaments? No problem. The RNA runs short or week-long coaching breaks. As you would expect from the Rafa Nadal Academy, the coaches are fantastic, and group coaching session is included in both the tournaments above. Guaranteed appearances by Rafa are not included, but if you are lucky he might be and you u might run into him on court, in the spa or in the shop. He is unlikely to hit you with a  tennis ball, but if he is not on his way to a practise session, might well ask if you are having a good time.
