Tennis is a sport that has everything!

Kibbs Osafo

Our successful Bromley Tennis For Free League always provides a fantastic number of friendly, competitive matches for tennis players from around the area. This week we had a chat with self-proclaimed Roger Federer wannabe Kibbs Osafo, a man for whom tennis really does tick all the boxes;

'I learn a lot from Gasquet, Ferrer and Wawrinka. I'm definitely a David Ferrer type of player but want to be a Federer! Tennis is a sport that has everything, it's good for kids and adults, teams and individuals and those that are fit and not so fit.  I started in junior tennis having moved from Football and athletics. I just loved the dynamics and dimensions of the competitive nature and utmost grace and gentlemanly side of it……McEnroe vs Borg rivalries in the early 80s went a long way to capturing a lot of tennis fans including me…But Seriously!!'

Kibbs has been playing in his local tennis league for a couple of years now and has had many a fine victory, but admits, his favourite match was probably a defeat!

'Actually I lost my favourite match, it was against Matt David and finished 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 I admire seeing people step up a gear!  Another was a successful but tiring 3 hour epic against Rushabh Kapasi 6-3, 4-6, 7-6!'

Alike many of our 'local leaguers', Kibbs loves a close match, something that we pride ourselves on throughout the country (even when it does snow as Kibbs explains!).

'I heard about the league by keeping an eye out for advertising. The league works extremely well. Winter was tough but I managed to get a few in at the end. Other rounds have been markedly more successful.'

And although the snow this winter was a little tricky, there's been great effort from Bromley players, as Kibbs adds, there really is no reason not to get involved;

'Bromley'ers' who haven't yet got involved..Don’t lose anymore time!! I do recommend Local Tennis Leagues to friends (only those that I can beat though!)'

You can play your matches whenever and wherever you like throughout all of our leagues. And Bromley players are able to take their pick of leagues. With our Bromley Tennis For Free league, our Bromley Tennis Centre League and our Bromley Tennis For Free Women's league, players can make use of courts throughout the area. A big thanks goes to Kibbs for his time, and we can't wait to see him continuing his great displays in the league! To find your local league go here!
