And went 3-1 up in the 2nd set!! I dug soo deep and ogba brought my best tennis out of me!!! Was a tight second set but things started going my way and my forehand was firing off!!! I have failed in the past to keep my composure but 2nite I was determined to keep the pressure on and play the tennis I know i have inside me!!! 3rd set was very tight and leading 5-3 ogba still fought back to 5-5 but I managed to break and hold playing aggressive tennis and finished off with lovely passing volley!!! Player Comments:

  • "A really good match, played over 2 days due to us running out of time on the first day. I started strong and won the first set 6-3. I struggled in the second set and played too defensively, losing this set via tiebreak. 3rd set i was 5-2 down before I got myself going again. We were running out of time and it looked as though we would have to stop. A Magid wanted to keep going ofcourse as he only needed one game to take the match. I held serve to take it to 5-3, then asked him if he wanted to stop there as we had about 10mins before closing. He asked to carry on, I then broke him to bring it to 5-4. We had to call time and continue a few days later. This now gave me the advantage of serving first and I saw the match out. Enjoyable match."  -- Ade

Player Comments:

  • "We were locked in a good battle at the start but I eventually managed to get the first set under my belt. The second set was less competitive but Ade admitted that the high number of games recently had taken their toll. I could tell that Ade is a strong player and their were signs of that today including two fantastic cross court forehands. I am sure the match would have been much closer if Ade was fully fit. All the best Ade in your remaining games."  -- Paul

Player Comments:

  • "What a match. I must congratulate Bradley on an absolutely outstanding performance, hitting winners on both wings right on the line if I dropped the ball an inch short. Very willing to come forward to the net and dynamic in hitting drop shots and changing direction. The first set was taken out of my hands and fortunately I was able to up the aggression of my shots to claw back the match. The highlights of the match were surely Bradley's stunning backhand volley which he picked up virtually on the floor to drop over the net and his down the line forehand which consistently flew past me. I am happy to come away with this match, thank you for playing and good luck with your remaining games."  -- Thomas
  • "Fantastic match, Both players playing aggressive and quality tennis. Such a enjoyable and challenging game in the heat, My first set is the best i have played a set of tennis ever, Thomas quality came through in the end. Cant wait for the next game well played." -- Bradley

The second set was much of the same with momentum shifting between us. Paul is a highly intelligent player and it really showed in the adverse conditions today, I am glad to come away with the win. Thanks and hope to play again :)"  -- Thomas

Player Comments:

  • "A nice match with Brad as always. I got an early break in the first set, but then was broken straight back. I continued on and aimed to up it later on in the set for a late break, this managed to pay off. The second set I had my normal case of second set syndrome, allowing Bradley to cruise and claim the second with ease. The tiebreak I started aggresivly from the off, a few mistakes from Brad allowed me to get to a 5-1 lead and then I just played it safe on his serves and made sure I got the points on mine. We will be playing again soon no doubt. Good luck with the remainder of your games Brad."  -- Ade

In the second set I lost my technique somewhat and Ian had a chance to take it to 3-3 after being 40-0 up. I somehow managed to win the game and then the last 2 games to win the match. It was a successful return to league action for Robert who won 8 matches to build a 3 point lead over runner up Richard. Credit to Ian who played well in the wind and produced a close second set against Robert, while Maddie got off to a great start going a set and a break up before Robert turned things around to win in 3 sets. Richard staged similar comebacks against Andrew and Tomasz, the latter being "3 hours of long rallies"... well played both!

I managed to get ahead in the 1st set, and keep the distance. John had points for 3 all, but I managed to hold on for 4-2. We both held serve early on but then Richard found an extra gear & won 1st set 6 - 1. 2nd set was better for me as I made less mistakes & took advantage of Richard struggling a bit with the heat & I win 6 - 3.
