Player Comments:

  • "This was a big match in the context of staying in Group 1 with both me and Ross winless after 2 Games. The conditions were quite treacherous and we both had a few slips during the game. Thankfully we managed to complete a decent game of Tennis. 1st Set was very even until Ross got a crucial break at 4-4. 2nd Set very similar but this time I was able to get the break and close it out. 3rd Set Ross’s lack of Tennis caught up with him and I kicked clear to wrap up the match. Always a pleasure to play Ross. Good Luck in your remaining fixtures mate."  -- Daniel

Player Comments:

  • "Always good to play Dan but even tho the scoreline looks one sided neither of us played our best tennis today, i made a lot more errors than usual first set but luckily for me even when Dan had chances he couldn't capitalise, a lack of matches recently meant he wasn't as sharp compared to the last time we played and i was able to see out the set 6-2 but it never felt comfortable...second set i knuckled down and just tried to focus on making less errors and by and large it worked, an early break meant i could relax a bit but unfortunately for Dan his level dropped right off and i quickly ran away with the set and the match. Thanks for the game mate and good luck in your remaining matches."  -- Ian

Player Comments:

  • "Awful weather this morning. Treacherous wind at times. But I have to say we both adjusted well to the challenges. Daniel in my opinion played better than last time he got a set off me. Even though he hasn't been playing it didn't show! He was retrieving all the hammering at threw at him. Really active and covering the court well. I was trying to wrong foot him several times but he really did well . Not the greatest of days to play but in the end Daniel agreed it was a good match. Enjoy the rest of your matches and hope you can maintain your status in Group one :)"  -- Ogba

Player Comments:

  • "I got off to a good start against Alain and volleyed better than I did in my previous match. In the second set, Alain rallied more and my level dropped. Alain went 3-1 up and could have gone 4-1 but I managed to win that fifth game and then the remaining games after that. And as I said to Alain after the match, 'I think the score this time was exactly the same as our previous match'. Thank you for the game Alain and all the best in your remaining matches"  -- Paul

Player Comments:

  • "Good to see Ross back on court after a long period out with injury, we’ve had quite a few tight battles since the first lockdown but this was our first local league match…unfortunately for Ross lack of match practice means he’s missing that killer edge I know he possesses and letting a 40-15 lead slip on serve in the very first game was just the start of his problems…I very quickly raced to a 6-0 4-0 lead before Ross briefly showed some grit to hold serve and go 40-15 up on my serve, sadly for him he couldn’t find the killer blow and I snuffed out any slim chance of a comeback to hold and break one more time and end a miserable night for Ross. Better results hopefully lie ahead in future games tho so good luck mate."  -- Ian

Player Comments:

  • "Always an enjoyable match with Paul. He will always fight and make you work hard. Today was no different. However, I was confident coming into this one. I used same tactics I used with Ross on Thursday and again it paid off! But I have to admit I didn't see bagel coming! 2nd set Paul made it very interesting coming from 1-3 down after a little rain break to take the set to 5-5! But I was determined to hold on to win. Paul would be itching to make amends the next time we meet. Thanks for the game and all the best with the rest of your games "  -- Ogba
Reveal CommentIan Wright bt Ogba Ogbimi (Nov 11) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Always seems to be a tough 3 set battle against Ogba and today was no different, i did myself no favours losing the very first game on my serve, more through my mistakes than winners and as Ogba had started off serving very well i just couldn't recover the break so the one bad game ended up costing me the first set 6-4....i felt i was playing well overall tho and from there on in i controlled the game to go 5-0 up 2nd set before Ogba held serve to avoid the bagel...it was close in the early stages of the 3rd but i managed to gradually pull away and serve out the match comfortably at 5-2...conditions with bright sun one end were tricky and hampered Ogba's vision today so i guess i just dealt with it a lot better. Thanks for the game mate."  -- Ian

Player Comments:

  • "Been a while I played Ross so did not know what to expect . Normally, I would start slow just consistent in my rallies and not looking to win the point first time to see how the opponent I haven't played a long time will react and adapt. However, this time I made up my mind that from the first ball I would be very aggressive! I didn't want to give Ross any sniff at all. It really paid off as Ross could not get his game together and took the first set 6-2. 2nd set, Ross has adapted and gave a good account of himself. Striking the fore hand so well and winners in the process! !Earlier on today my eyes were dazzled by the early morning sun, it clearly affected my vision in my against Ian. No vision problems this one lol! All the best Ross"  -- Ogba

Player Comments:

  • "It was a good match with Jamie this evening. The 1st set Jamie took a little while to really get into the match and suffered with a few double faults on important points. The second set was much better with some good rallies and well fought points. I started the set behind but managed to bring it back level at 4-4 then just held on at the last minute to take the set. Jamie is a good player and with more regular matches will help his consistency. "  -- Lee

Player Comments:

  • "Nice meeting Richard this afternoon. I was worried heading to the match today that I didn't have enough energy to play how I'd like and after 2 games I realised I was right. Richard said he hasn't played in a while but defensively he did really well. The 1st set both of us struggled to hold and even when I did manage to hold I gave away the next service game to put us back on level terms. It felt like the 1st set wasn't going to end but I just managed to get it together and get one final break and hold to win the set at the last minute. The second set started well and this time we was holding our service games for the 1st 4 games but I thankfully got a second wind and which helped me serve better so could hold my serve and break Richard's.
