Player Comments:

  • "Plenty of deuce games in this one, so the scoreline is a little harsh on Michael. Thank you for the match - glad we got it done as the light closed in! See you in the next round I'm sure."  -- Scott

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentScott Sinclair bt Philip Benton (Oct 25) 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Super contest on a Sunday evening. Frequent break of serves in first set but was able to hold my serve enough times to edge it. Second set we both served very well but plenty of deuces. I managed to break Scott at 4-5 down after an epic game but he recovered well to win the tiebreaker in a lungbuster set to tie. This already took 2 hours so looking forward to finishing this one! "  -- Philip
  • "Fantastic, close match with Phil, who very nearly had me in straight sets. Looking forward to pitting wits against him next time. Best of luck in your remaining match," -- Scott
Reveal CommentScott Sinclair bt Satheesh Vigneswaran (Oct 14) 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Very tight first set, both with opportunities to win it. The second set appeared to be heading one way when I was leading 5-0 but Satheesh powered back to 5-3 and had an opportunity to put the set back on-serve. But closed out for 6-3. Final set was closer than the 4-1 lead appeared, though final two games were simpler as we both tired. Satheesh has strong technique, so watch out!"  -- Scott

Player Comments:

  • "First set was closer than scoreline suggested. Started second set in fading light before being reduced to darkness. Looking forward to completing soon!"  -- Philip
  • "Michael and I were caught off-guard again with the tennis gods conspiring against us as we finished this match in gloomy conditions and rain falling! We stubbornly carried on and were able to complete the match with lots of deuces throughout the second set. Glad to get this one finished and look forward to playing Michael in more pleasant conditions!," -- Philip
Reveal CommentPhilip Benton bt Kevin Gearing (Oct 5) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great game. Scoreline didn't reflect the closeness of the games as Kevin won a third set for fun 6-3! Lovely club too. Looking forward to our next match!"  -- Philip
Reveal CommentScott Sinclair bt Kevin Gearing (Sep 30) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Very close match in near gale force winds! Many games went to deuce and neither of us was sure whether playing into the wind was an advantage or not!! Well played Kevin."  -- Scott
Reveal CommentSatheesh Vigneswaran bt Kevin Gearing (Sep 22) 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "It was a great game of tennis with long rallies and attacking shots . Kevin was leading 2nd set 5-0 but somehow with quite a bit of luck I managed battle back to take the set 7-5 . The score doesn't do justice to a cracking match and on another day Kevin would have easily beaten me . Well played and thanks for the game Kevin . Satheesh"  -- Satheesh
