Player Comments:

  • "Some good rallies, but in the end I managed to prevail, probably because I can hit it a bit harder."  -- Patrick
Reveal CommentJavier De Sena bt Patrick Lambton (Jan 21) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Thank for the game! Good fun :-)"  -- Javier
J Alban Obianyor bt Bethany Bolton (Jan 18) Walkover
Reveal CommentPatrick Lambton bt Matthew Knighton (Dec 21) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A slow start for both players gradually warmed up into a feisty second half of the first set with some really good rallys, close games and the set going right down to the wire. The second set was slightly less competitive as often follows an intense first, and Matt suffering with an elbow issue did not help. All in all a fun match though."  -- Patrick

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentJ Alban Obianyor bt Javier De Sena (Dec 18) 6-4, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Great games Javier. More than half the games went to a tie break and boy was it energy sapping. First game. I pulled out a lead of 5-1 then Javier got the bit between his teeth and came at me. He got it back to 4-5 with several tie breaks thrown in for good measure. I escaped with a break of serve in the final game. 6-4. Second set was just as much fun. I got a 4-2 lead. Javier pulled it back and went ahead 5-4. I resigned myself to a third set but my lobs came to my rescue. We eventually got to 6-6 and tie break it was. I got ahead with a mini tie break at 5-5 and even I will admit I fluked my was to a 7-5. Javier has a great array of shots and it was a pleasure of a game. 2 hours + of tennis for 2 sets. "  -- J Alban
Reveal CommentJ Alban Obianyor bt Patrick Lambton (Dec 14) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "First set we both tried to work out each others games. Paddy kept getting me to set them up for his forehand. Luckily I got away with quite a few of them. Second set was more of the same. Paddy made me work hard and wish I could do better at putting away shots and I'm sure he felt the same about him putting the shots away as well. Good enjoyable games though."  -- J Alban
Reveal CommentJ Alban Obianyor bt Maneck Ahmed (Dec 11) 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Good competitive games. Maneck has really good shots and kept me running. I played sly shots and managed to keep him on his toes. All in all a very good match up. Got an early break in the first set and managed to keep my nose ahead. 6-4 Maneck got a couple of breaks in the second. Got to 5 then let me back in. I thought I'd done enough to win but he got his shots working again. Got to a tie breaker and after a small minibreak in my favour, he reeled me in and walked away with the game. 7-6 (4). Third set ding dong-ed with neither of us able to hold serve. I guess it happens after 2 hours of playing. I flukily managed to win an exchange at the nets and hold serve then broke him on his serve. 6-4. "  -- J Alban
Reveal CommentJavier De Sena bt Maneck Ahmed (Dec 4) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Great match, some really long games and exciting rallies, ball of the match goes to Maneck with a superb lob under pressure on the base line"  -- Javier
Reveal CommentManeck Ahmed bt Patrick Lambton (Dec 3) 6-3, 6-3

  • "Great Match. Lots of longs rallies and great back ends from both of us, speaking of back ends gota give to paddy with his elegant cross courter- Richard Gassy Style. "  -- Maneck
Reveal CommentManeck Ahmed bt Matthew Knighton (Nov 27) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Good match overall, despite the score line Matt played his part often taking to me deuce on my service games. Shot of the match was agree the single handed backhand down the line- even Federer would have been proud. "  -- Maneck
