Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentRichard Tyler bt Doug Burns (Jan 3) 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6)

Player Comments:

  • "Epic game that lasted well over 2 hours. I capitalised on Doug’s slow start and serving gremlins in the first sentence and got 3-0 up in the 2nd set. Doug then fought about strongly, landed more first served using more spin and dominated the rest of the 2nd set with his accurate ground strokes. I had to hang in throughout the final set and it became a battle with wet and sluggish balls. Very pleased to edge the tiebreak - frankly it could have gone either way ! Thanks for the game Doug ! "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentThomas Gould bt Doug Burns (Jan 1) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Doug Burns, playing with a Wilson Burn, was at some moments quite incendiary! His powerful and deep ground strokes kept me pinned back but I kept getting his balls back in court and made fewer unforced errors. Thanks for letting me hit with your Burn - I loved this racket. "  -- Thomas
Reveal CommentThomas Gould bt Alex Hicks (Dec 29) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Third time I’ve played Alex and always a pleasure. Lots of interruptions to the match due to floodlights not working so thanks to Alex for his forbearance. As ever Alex doesn’t give any points away and he made me work hard for the win. We played a friendly 3rd set which Alex won 6-1, so if we’d played best of 5 sets it might be a different story…"  -- Thomas
Reveal CommentNick Clarke bt Richard Tyler (Dec 23) 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Close game with contrasting styles - lots of breaks of serve. Looking forward to the decider. Richard to serve first. "  -- Richard
Reveal CommentAlex Hicks bt Nico Sersale (Dec 10) 6-4, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Tricky conditions with sun, wind and a damp surface. Both of us found playing from the South facing end near to impossible in set 1. I managed to adapt to the conditions a little better than Nico allowing for a more comfortable 2nd set. Thank you."  -- Alex
Reveal CommentThomas Gould bt Nico Sersale (Dec 8) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A match of two halves - 1st set played on wet astroturf with gale-force winds, 2nd set played an a hard indoor court. Nico played really well at the start of the 2nd set, leading 2-0 and clearly more comfortable playing on the slower surface. "  -- Thomas
Reveal CommentThomas Gould bt Richard Tyler (Dec 8) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Richard very graciously agreed to play at short notice to give me a chance of picking up the midpoint bonus points. Conditions were windy and with rain forecast we didn’t really expect to get the match finished. But the rain held off, and we completed two sets despite having to relocate to another court nearby. The gusty conditions made it quite hard to read the ball, but we managed to play some decent quality tennis nonetheless, with Richard winning a lot of points on my serve. "  -- Thomas
Reveal CommentThomas Gould bt Nick Clarke (Dec 7) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great to play Nick again, and see his fine weaponry (very fast flat first serve and heavy topspin forehand). "  -- Thomas
Reveal CommentDoug Burns bt Joe Kelly (Dec 4) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Much, much closer than the score suggests with many close games. Difficult conditions in the cold and blinding glare of Waterlow at 8am!"  -- Doug
Reveal CommentJoe Kelly bt Richard Tyler (Dec 3) 6-1, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Another great game with Richard, lots of running and long rallies. 1 set each, to be continued! "  -- Joe
  • "Closely fought match. Final set was played with bright low sun at one end. Decisive factor was Joe holding serve a couple of times from the less favourable end. Well done Joe and very enjoyable!" -- Richard
Reveal CommentNico Sersale bt Nick Clarke (Dec 2) 6-7 (2-7), 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Nick is a very strong opponent with a killer serve and a very strong topspin forehand. The game was tough and it could have very easily gone the other way. Weather was frosty and playing early in the morning meant we had the sun rising behind a player, that is always a problem. Enjoyed playing with Nick and hope to cross path with him again in the future."  -- Nico
Doug Burns v Nick Clarke (Nov 28) 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 3-4 TBC
Reveal CommentNico Sersale bt Richard Tyler (Nov 26) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "We've been lucky with the weather. It was suppose to rain, but we only had a drizzle - the court though was very slippery. It was a very, VERY tight game. Richard is an extremely solid player and this made it an enjoyable match. I've been lucky this time. "  -- Nico
Nick Clarke bt Joe Kelly (Nov 20) 6-3, 6-4
Reveal CommentAlex Hicks bt Joe Kelly (Nov 19) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Nice close match, lots of running around for both of us. A few less double faults from Joe and it probably would have gone the other way. Thank you."  -- Alex
Reveal CommentAlex Hicks bt Richard Tyler (Nov 17) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A closer match than the score suggests. Half of the games went to multiple deuces and there was some great trading at the net. Thank you."  -- Alex
Reveal CommentNico Sersale bt Joe Kelly (Nov 17) 7-6 (7-5), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • " The weather was great, but the early game meant that the sun was always behind one of the players. Apart from that a great match and it was a real pleasure playing with Joe."  -- Nico
Reveal CommentAlex Hicks bt Doug Burns (Nov 12) 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1)

Player Comments:

  • "Close match with some varied rallies on a great surface. It was drizzling throughout but not a single slip. I look forward to finishing up. Alex to serve."  -- Alex
  • "A close end to the game in such windy conditions we may as well have rolled a die to decide the winner. Thank you." -- Alex
