Player Comments:

  • "On good courts on a grey wintery day Ricky and I had a very competitive and enjoyable game. Long rallies and many close games was the backdrop of this match . I came through in the end but can say this was most competitive match I have participated in during the league format. Look forward to playing you again Ricky "  -- Ian
Ricky Seal bt Dawud Faris (Nov 19) 6-2, 6-4

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentJames Knox bt Ricky Seal (Nov 10) 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was another close match played out under floodlights in November weather at Holford Drive. We used the free balls from the last round (thank you Nigel and Sally!). Overall I'd say this was a mostly defensive game with Ricky being the more comfortable at the net and James perhaps more consistent from the back of the court. The first set took an hour with most of the points won or lost through long rallies from the baseline. Ricky's change of tactic to come to the net more in the second set was rewarded with shorter rallies and him hitting more winners to take it into a 3rd set. In the decider James took an early break by finding some passing shots and toughed out a solid come back from Ricky who played some great all court tennis. "  -- James
Reveal CommentIan Gibson bt Munir Suleman (Nov 6) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A competitive match played on great courts on a bright yet cold morning. Munir got off to a fast start and therafter each game remained close and well fought throughout. Good game , thank you Munir always enjoyable to play you "  -- Ian
Reveal CommentJames Knox bt Munir Suleman (Nov 1) 6-2, 3-6, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "As the score suggests, this was an evenly balanced match with both players having spells where they had the ascendency. Munir changed tactics effectively in the second set to bring about a closely fought decider with long rallies and some rat-a-tat net exchanges that are always very enjoyable to be part of. "  -- James
Reveal CommentJames Knox bt Dawud Faris (Oct 27) 6-4, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "This was a close match and the scores could easily have been reversed with just a few points going the other way. This was a battle of consistency with long rallies in which defence probably outscored attack. Overall, an enjoyable match played in great conditions and in a good spirit. Exactly what I was hoping for when I joined the league. "  -- James
Reveal CommentIan Gibson bt James Knox (Oct 25) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A competitive match played on a crisp autumn evening under floodlights on a perfect court.. Second time around playing James and it was an enjoyable and at times tense game where James came back well at me in the second set "  -- Ian
Reveal CommentDawud Faris bt Munir Suleman (Oct 24) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely courts but a high bounce if you are using really firm balls. Remember £5.50 per hour if playing at night for the flood lights. Munir was a good competitor and thanks for the game."  -- Dawud
Reveal CommentIan Gibson bt Dawud Faris (Oct 23) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "A competitive match played on a bright sunny afternoon. Have played each other many times before and games are always enjoyable and tense at times. Learnt a new fact that a double hit if completed within the same motion of a stroke is allowed. Thanks for the game Dawud as ever it was great "  -- Ian
