- "What. A. Game. Almost every single game had multiple deuces and hard fought points. Having won a very tight first set, I fought from 4-2 down in second set to having 2 failed attempts to serve out the match. Omer won the tie break very convincingly and seemed to have grabbed the match with both horns, leading 8-5 in the match tie break, before I somehow dug deep to win 5 points in a row to takr the match. Cheers Omer, can’t wait for our next meeting!" -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "A chilly but clear evening for a very enjoyable tennis match. Anna's down the line forehands were definitely the shots of the match! All the best for the rest of the league, Anna!" -- Agata
Player Comments:
- "Really hard fought match. The first set was closer than the score suggested and Gabriel saved 3 set points when I was serving at 5-2 before I managed to convert the 4th. Second set was also very hard fought with Gabriel fighting back from 4-2 down to lead 5-4 before I just managed to struggle over the line. Cheers Gabriel!" -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "It was a bit unusual to see my mixed doubles partner across the net playing singles. It was a close competitive match with most games reaching multiple deuces. It was a massive relief when I hit an outright winner on the final point!" -- Alfred
Player Comments:
- "I’m always the underdog when I play Alfie and to beat him I always have to play well and hope Alfie is not quite at his best and that is what happened today. However, it was still a good game with some very good points from both of us and there were moments in both sets where it could’ve gone either way! Cheers Alfie!" -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "Nice and well balanced match that could have gone either way. A few great rallies, especially in the second set. The difference has been made by a good serve day on my end. Adrian " -- Adrian
Player Comments:
- "An absolute epic to start off the round and nice to finally get a win after a bad losing streak in the last round. Anna played brilliantly in the first set, and I was really struggling to see the ball as a couple of the floodlights weren’t working. In the second set we moved to the adjacent court where the visibility was much better. Anna fought from 4-2 down back to 4-4 and 40-15 but i managed to keep fighting to eventually take the the match to a third set. I managed to carry my momentum into the third to eventually win. Cheers Anna, I look forward to our next meeting" -- Alex
Player Comments:
- "A very competitive match consisting of two almost identical sets of car-and-mouse tennis. I led 4-1 in each set only to throw in an atrocious service game to surrender the advantage. Fortunately, I was able to secure the crucial break in the final game of each set to claim the hard-fought victory." -- Alfred
Player Comments:
- "A wet, windy and heavy evening which made it very difficult to time and position the shots. The score does not really reflect the close contest between us." -- Alfred

- "An epic battle lasting 2.5 hours! Super competitive tennis throughout with lots of long challenging rallies and one 10 minute game with over a dozen deuces! Angie held to level 5-5, we both held the next games to take us to a hard-fought tiebreak that went right to the wire… I got lucky and only just edged it. Well played Angie, thanks for a great match! Best of luck with the rest of your matches. D " -- Don
Player Comments:
- "Long match - 3 sets played over two sessions. The first was during the cold snap - court was more like an ice rink than a tennis court. The conditions were perfect for the second session so we tried to make it hard for ourselves by using some of the highest bouncing balls Wimbledon Park has ever seen. Thanks for the match Yigit. " -- Tom
Player Comments:
- "Great to be back on court after an extended break and for what turned out be a cracking match with many fast, thrilling rallies. We both started off quite steadily with Angie playing first time on these artificial grass courts and progressively getting the measure of the bounce and some of the best serves and shots I have managed for a while. Thanks, Angie, for a great match with flawless line-calls and score-keeping. At 3-3 in the second set this could easily have turned out quite differently and may well, next time!" -- Peter

- "Lovely to meet Tamara. We had a very enjoyable match in pleasant conditions. I seemed to finesse the first set before Tamara settled into her rhythm in the second, serving and rallying well. I'm sure our next match will be closer." -- Brendan
Player Comments:
- "A competitive two-hours in bright sunshine, with an intermittent breeze. Serving convincingly, Simon raced through the opener, and I was hanging on. I just managed to edge a hard-fought second set. Then I got lucky: Simon lost his service rhythm, so that 6-1 decider is an unfair reflection on a very close contest. All credit to Simon, who maintained a smiling, courteous disposition when things turned against him. Look forward to our next encounter." -- Brendan
Player Comments:
- "Great game with good rallies. Thanks Sarah!" -- Tamara
Player Comments:
- "Lovely match as ever with Sarah. Lots of fun rallies, especially at the beginning of the second set when Sarah put me under a lot of pressure. Thank you Sarah and look forward to next time. " -- Isobel

- "We had a great match this morning, a bracing start to the day! I've known Jane a long time , she is a lovely person and has just joined the league - this was her first match,. Enjoy the rest of your matches Jane!" -- Simon
Player Comments:
- "A tough, friendly match with Apoorv out-lasting me as we passed the two-hour mark. Apoorv is a welcome recruit to the Wimbledon courts. His retrieving on the back-hand side was consistently impressive and probably the deciding factor in the match." -- Brendan
Player Comments:
- "Rain stopped play after only 2 games! Try again next week. " -- Isobel
- "An unexpected outcome. Isobel has won our recent encounters but was not on a going day today. Still great friends and look forward to our next match." -- Brendan
Player Comments:
- "Tricky playing conditions: court a bit icy at one end and bright sun very low at the other. Isobel tried to put me off at one stage by mentioning my tax return but I held my nerve. Shot of the match: I was at the net and Isobel waited for me to commit to one side before sending a glorious backhand pass down the line." -- Richard
Player Comments:
- "Really nice to be out on the court with Sarah, we had a great match and the weather was gorgeous, crisp but sunny." -- Simon
