Player Comments:

  • "A match that lasted just shy of 2 1/2 hours. The match looked over when Ruben was 6-4 4-0 up. He wasn't making many mistakes and is a reallly good defensive player. He could quite literallly get every ball back and was playing a lot of unorthadox forehands, which stay low. At the point of no return, i played no miss Tennis and realised i needed to make a tactical adjusment against his slicy low bounce forehand. I need to attack his forehand side, because he was running around his backhand and left his forehand open. I did not do this at 4-6 0-4. Well played, Ruben"  -- Danny

Player Comments:

  • "really good match in great weather, with a nice young lady and a nice name rainbird. Ha. All positives. I was a set and a break up, but Emma wasn't going away without a fight. I had multiple match points in the final set, but it went to a match deciding tie-breaker. I didn't do a bad job, considering i was wearing slip on shoes. Ha."  -- Danny

Player Comments:

  • "Another long match with Mod. I booked a court for two hours, which was not enough and we paused at 7-5 5-5 as the court was needed by other players. Resuming two days later Mod played outstandingly well to take the 2nd set in the tiebreak 7-2. In the 3rd set Mod showed signs of tiring but it took much longer to play than the score suggests and like our last Local Tennis Leagues' match I had to use my full bag of tricks. How many 12+ shot rallies and deuces can one play? With Mod, an amazing amount. Thanks for the match Mod." -- Peter

Reveal CommentPeter Ferrett bt Bogdan Popa (Apr 2) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It was good to meet Bogdan, he informed me he hadn't played for quite a while, his playing definitely improved as the match progressed and in a post match hitting session. In Set 2 Bogdan started hitting some good forehands from both sides that on occasion would sear past me cross court. I played my usual slice/off-pace/dropshot/lob game when I could but ended up hitting (slight) topspin rallying shots off both wings as Bogdan was moving me around the court well. He was unlucky not to get more games as he had game point several times but just couldn't quite get over the line. Thanks Bogdan and I hope to play you again soon." -- Peter
