Collapse AllHigh Wycombe and Hazlemere Singles - Round 30 | Thursday 29 November 2018 to Wednesday 6 February 2019 (Midpoint: Wednesday 2 January 2019)

And that's our thirtieth round in High Wycombe done and dusted. Thank you for staying so loyal to the concept and helping give more and more players the chance to play friendly, competitive singles. This round over 70% of matches were played, which is a testament to your skills and passion! Here's to the spring round.

Group Summary:

All this excellent group needed was a play-off between James and Paul, but tantalisingly we didn't get it this round. Instead, both players confidently notched up four wins - uncomplicated by bonus points - and ended the round with eight points each. In these circumstances, it is off to the rule book and winner last time, James, just edges the group win by virtue of conceding fewer sets and games. An intriguing round and just think what might have happened if third-placed Chris has earned bonus points. With another match under his belt and three good wins of his own, the group could have been his! (And lovey match commentaries all!)

Group Summary:

Well done group two for your early scheduling of matches - four players earned their bonus points and free tennis balls. But it was the tennis that won the group for Jamie, with three emphatic wins to earn him promotion next time. Marc kept himself in the chase with two wins of his own and his encounter with the champ on a chilly day is the kind of match you can easily build on. Well done to Jane who played more matches than anyone else to earn third place with a run that included a nice win over Kabir.

Reveal CommentJamie Carter bt Jane Smith (Dec 14) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Without a doubt Jane is my new favourite person. A really fun hit was hosted at a great club in really good spirit. Even though she fell short of her predicted four aces, Jane has a decent serve which keeps you on your toes. A little more luck at the net would have made it closer. An absolute pleasure so looking forward to our next game. "  -- Jamie
Reveal CommentJamie Carter bt Marc Nielsen (Dec 12) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Good knock all round, neither of us played free and loose. I think Marc had a little more left in his racket to give and I didn't serve great so all in all on an extremely cold day it was just good to play. Thanks Marc... "  -- Jamie
Reveal CommentJamie Carter bt Kabir Inaganti (Dec 2) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "It was great to meet Jamie! He's so friendly and encouraging. Honestly, I think lta placed me in the wrong group since I've only played tennis for a year and only managed to win a handful of points in the entire match. Jamie's coming back from surgery so that probably explains his low ranking. His serve is outstanding and should be the favourite for the group! Disappointed not to give him a good game."  -- Kabir
