  • "Superb match which could have gone either way. Both players contested it well and it was very enjoyable. 2 different styles on show which made for an interesting match with Joe very effective coming to the net and hitting numerous volleyed winners. Not a single double fault was served in the entire match either, which is quite noteworthy!"  -- Joseph

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentAli Hajeeh Ali bt Jonathan Greener (Dec 9) 6-4, 5-7, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "By far the most competitive game I've ever played under severe conditions. I managed to win the first set after breaking Jonathan's serve to win the first set. Jonathan took the second set after a massive lead of 4 games however I was able to win some games but Jonathan ended up taking the set. Final set could've gone either way as the games were close and the scores were almost equal but I managed to break Jonathan's serve leading up to 6-5 to win the game while it was getting dark. Credits to Jonathan who was resilient and fought for every point "  -- Ali
Reveal CommentJonathan Greener bt Peter McCue (Dec 6) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Another enjoyable match with Peter, despite the howling gale! Some close games so the score doesn't tell the full story."  -- Jonathan

Player Comments:

  • "Lucky to catch Aitor on a rare off-day. Difficult conditions for both with the wind & sun glare. "  -- Jonathan
Reveal CommentAitor Lopez De Uralde bt Ali Hajeeh Ali (Nov 8) 4-6, 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Great match played in a nice but cold autumn day. The first set was a rollercoaster, Aitor started winning the first 3 games followed by 5 consecutive games won by Ali. Aitor saved 4 set points and put a 5-4 but Ali closed the set 6-4. The second set was quite even as well but Aitor won the important points, taking the set by 6-2. The last set was very competitive being decided by an angled backhand that Ali couldn't return. It was double painful for him cos he twisted his left ankle trying to reach the ball. In summary, it was a great even match with good rallies and some good winners. Take care of that ankle Ali and come back to the courts soon."  -- Aitor
Reveal CommentPeter McCue bt Paulie Wakefield (Oct 27) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A match played on a lovely sunny day though the sun in the eyes was a factor throughout from one end of the court ! The first set score flattered Peter and the second was a tight affair with Paulie playing a number of good winners and plenty of tight games and deuces but Peter managed to close the match out 6-3 in the end"  -- Peter
Reveal CommentAitor Lopez De Uralde bt Peter McCue (Oct 24) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Good match played in a quite windy day. The result does not reflect how even was the match, with several games going to deuce. Enjoyable match with some good shots and rallies."  -- Aitor
Reveal CommentAitor Lopez De Uralde bt Kamran Haider (Oct 23) 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Good match played in a decent autumn day. I started better than Kamran taking the 3 first games and keeping the difference to win first set by 6-3. Second set went similar, being 4 match points required to close the match. Good competitive match with some good rallies."  -- Aitor
