"This has been a brilliant idea, and the best thing that’s happened to me for many years, sport-wise. I’ve always loved playing tennis, but haven’t had anyone to play with for years. Apart from  joining a club, it’s so difficult meeting anyone to play. I’ve had some fantastic games and all have been very enjoyable, win or lose. Everyone I’ve spoken to feel the same, so well done to both of you,"

Richard Lake

"Thoroughly enjoying it so far... didn't know I was so unfit. Can't wait for the next game,"

Kevin Jones

"It was a good feeling to be back on the court.  I hope everybody from our group enjoyed the competition and I wish them good luck in the next tournament,"

Florin Nistor

"Having struggled for a game locally, I was happy to find this league. Everyone in the league was warm on arrival and all the games were friendly.  I met some great people in the group.
If you want to play competitively, it doesn't matter what standard you are and /or how nervous you are about playing strangers. I highly recommend entering these leagues as it's a great place to enjoy a game and meet like-minded people for games in the future.  Well played to everyone in the league."

Richard Washbrook

"I have really enjoyed playing matches. Thank you very much for organising the league and making the arrangements for us players to feel it's 'Wimbledon' every round....."

David Bown

"Playing this round has been so much fun and has definitely sharpened my game.  Looking forward to the next one,"

Jean-Paul Dowding

Reveal CommentGiuseppe Iantosca bt Ian Holoweckyj (Jul 21) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great match with Ian on a warm sunny evening at BLTC. We had some great rallies and Ian’s backhand was particularly a strong point in his game this evening. Both sets started the same way with Ian take the first 2 games in both sets. I managed to turn the tide back in my way and played some solid tennis to get the job done. Thank you for a great match, Ian. Good luck for the rest of your matches. "  -- Giuseppe
Reveal CommentEzequiel Gómez Gibson bt Pasquale D'amelio (Jul 18) 6-2, 6-1

  • "Thanks Pasq for the game. Extremely hot Today and we both struggle with the heat. Very hard to keep rallies going but we went for it! Wish you the best on your other matches! I’m sure we will play again soon!"  -- Ezequiel
Reveal CommentEzequiel Gómez Gibson bt Charles Standish (Jul 15) 6-0, 6-0

Reveal CommentWesley Randle bt Pasquale D'amelio (Jul 10) 6-1, 3-6, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great run out - some rusty shots, play and serves throughout. Probably because of recent poor weather. At least the weather held but very muggy! Thanks Pasq. Wes"  -- Wesley
Reveal CommentEzequiel Gómez Gibson bt Giuseppe Iantosca (Jul 2) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "What a great match with Giuseppe. Lots of good long rallies! We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Great backhand play from him and technique. I wish you all the best on the rest of your matches man! We shall play again soon…"  -- Ezequiel
Reveal CommentGiuseppe Iantosca bt Wesley Randle (Jul 1) 6-4, 4-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Wesley was a tough competitor. I raced in to a 4-0 lead in the first set and he sprung in to action and got it back to 4-4. I held on to take the first set 6-4. The rest of the match forced us both to play some clever shots to outfox each other which I thoroughly enjoyed. Wesley chased all of my shots down and forced a lot of errors out of me which well and truly wound me up and he took the second set 6-4. Some of Wes' forehand and backhand slice shots were unbelievable! A change of racket and a good talking to myself allowed me to refocus and loosen up for the final set where we had some good rallies. I knew I had to play smart and and pick my shots wisely! Thank you for the match Wes. Good luck in the rest of your matches."  -- Giuseppe

Reveal CommentRyan Chandhar bt Basharat Iqbal (Jul 29) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "My first meeting with Bash today on a windy but sunny day. Not ideal conditions with the wind but I played some really nice tennis, hitting consistently but deep powerful ground strokes off both the backhand and forehand. We had some really nice rallies and Bash has a nice forehand and touch, making very little errors forcing me to hit winners. Thanks again Bash, really nice to meet you and good luck for your remaining matches."  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentDarren Kent bt Matt Broadhurst (Jul 25) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Nice to play Matt. Maybe a bit of rust from Matt as I can see a decent player in his game but he hit quite a few long balls. Tennis can be a frustrating game when it’s not going your way. I played well enough to get the win Cheers "  -- Darren
Reveal CommentJohn Harrison bt Jean-Paul Dowding (Jul 19) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "On one of the hottest evenings of the summer combined with the closest of fought matches, made this a real battle from start to finish. Most games went to deuce with only the slightest difference turning each game. After losing the first set I managed to grind out a win by sticking to the “safer” tennis overall. Always a pleasure to play JP.!"  -- John
Reveal CommentRyan Chandhar bt Jean-Paul Dowding (Jul 16) 6-7 (9-11), 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "What a battle once again with JP. I knew today would be a tough match going in as our head 2 head was tied at 1-1 with JP getting the better of me last time out. A brilliant 1st set with so many great points. I was 5-2 down and managed to up my game and get it to the tie break. Both of us saved upwards of 5 set points each with great play in this set and JP fought well from 6-4 down edging me out 11-9. It was a painful one to lose. I again had to try and find another level and after going with serve at the start of the set I managed to pull away. The third set was again a close contest and I feel very fortunate to come away with this one. What a great match! Well played JP, I very much look forward to our next match. "  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentRyan Chandhar bt Matt Broadhurst (Jul 14) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great weather conditions, humid with little wind for today's match. My first meeting with Matt today and one I will not forget. I played at an insanely high level today and it is safe to say that Is one of my best tennis league performances ever. Matt is a great player and although I ran away with the first set, all of the games were tight in the second and to beat a player of Matt's quality by this scoreline is incredible. Good luck for the rest of your matches Matt and I look forward to our next one. "  -- Ryan
Reveal CommentDarren Kent bt Basharat Iqbal (Jul 12) 4-6, 6-4, 7-5

Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt Matt Broadhurst (Jul 8) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Played on a humid evening in Mowsbury Park. Matt took an early break in the first set and clung on to take it despite my best efforts - the game at 5-3 went to multiple deuces but I couldn't quite convert. In the second set I took an early break and maintained that advantage. The third set was more of a roller-coaster. I took an early break to lead 3-0 and was feeling good at 4-1, but that soon became 4-3 and I was wondering if the momentum would stay with Matt. Reflecting afterwards, where Matt was positive / aggressive in the first set, he became tighter as the match went on. I was able to attack his second serve more in sets 2 and 3 which immediately put him on the back foot - I think that was the difference. Great fun match!!"  -- Jean-Paul

Reveal CommentDarren Kent bt Ryan Chandhar (Jun 24) 7-6 (7-5), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Great match against Ryan as always. Both hit some great winners and had some excellent rallies. 1st set tie breaker could have gone either way. 2nd set Ryan was quickly 4-1 up as I had lost momentum from the 1st but gave myself a talking to and won 6-4. Look forward to the next one. Cheers "  -- Darren
