Player Comments:

  • "Nice to meet Peter; the match was one sided sadly but we still enjoyed a knock and fresh air, it was a lovely evening for tennis. Thanks Peter"  -- Ian
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Ian Holoweckyj (Mar 21) 6-1, 4-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Really good match between me and Ian that turned into a mental and physical battle. I rattled through the first set dictating the play and baseline rallies. The second set was a different story and Ian bounced back well. It felt like more of his shots were going in and he was applying the pressure. It was a tight affair with some great points and he earned the set.. This was a wake up call for me and I went for more in the decider and fortunately Ian did not stick with me. Well played!"  -- Dean
Reveal CommentPeter Hedley bt Michael Dyer (Mar 20) 7-6 (7-0), 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Good match with Michael. Many breaks traded in the first set before one of us held serve and then still couldn't separate us. I managed to find a bit more consistency in the 2nd set. Thannks for the match."  -- Peter
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Jean-Paul Dowding (Mar 19) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Decent first time match up between me and JP. Both of us happy to get into a baseline battle and there was some good points played. Time for some red wine. All the best."  -- Dean
Reveal CommentIan Holoweckyj bt Jean-Paul Dowding (Mar 18) 1-6, 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "24 hrs since playing - feet, ankles, calves, thighs, hips and everything else still hurts ! JP totally dominated the first set playing fabulous tennis and hittitng winners for fun - think I won only 6 or 7 points. 2nd set I was happy to initially hold a few serves and play myself back in, serving first was the difference with a break coming at 5-4. 3rd set followed the previous with each point well contested so it was knackering, and again serving first was probably the only difference on the night as I edged out a match that, on first-set performance alone - would have more just if JP had won."  -- Ian
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Joshua Zwetsloot (Mar 15) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely morning for it . Good Hard court surface that added to the baseline rallies. Some decent play and points by both players. Enjoyable workout. Cheers . "  -- Dean

Player Comments:

  • "Great to play John after so long. Close match. I think I managed to edge a few more points and claim the victory!"  -- John
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt Peter Hedley (Mar 13) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The wind blowing straight down the court at Mowsbury meant very different conditions either side of the net. Having said that, we both managed it well with only a few points being determined by the wind either pushing the ball long, or dropping it unintentionally short. Peter was unfortunate not to have won more games, the possibility was definitely there. Thanks for the game, Peter. Good luck in your remaining matches."  -- Jean-Paul
Reveal CommentJoshua Zwetsloot bt Michael Dyer (Mar 12) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great to meet Michael. Had some really nice rallies, and he fought back well at the beginning of the 2nd set where I was down a break. He hits some really nice shots from both the forehand and the backhand sides, just hit a few too many out today! Will be a much tighter scoreline when he gets more consistent"  -- Joshua
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt Joshua Zwetsloot (Mar 11) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "I'm genuinely stunned this is the score, the match felt much closer. We had numerous deuce games and competitive rallies. Josh has a good first serve and able to play the angles but was maybe a little too inconsistent at times - maybe that was the difference, but it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the game Josh, looking forward to our next one. Good luck with your remaining matches!!"  -- Jean-Paul

Reveal CommentJohn Harrison bt Michael Dyer (Mar 6) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Good solid game on a pleasant Sunday morning with some blustery wind down the length of the court making judging the length some what challenging. Michael has some great shots, with plenty of power and width and only some grinding consistency gave me the upper hand. Overall good and enjoyable game and with more time on the court Michael will be difficult to beat in future games. Good luck Michael for your remaining games."  -- John
Reveal CommentBen Friman bt Peter Hedley (Mar 6) 6-3, 6-1

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentBen Friman bt Michael Dyer (Feb 26) 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "A monster of a match. After coming back from a break down in the first set, I took the tiebreak swiftly. In the second set, I couldn't make much of an impression and thought that I was fading. In the third, I was two breaks down but came back as Michael was starting to make more mistakes. I thought I'd blown it in the tiebreak at 1:5 but then managed 6 points in a row to finish. Both players will sleep well."  -- Ben

Player Comments:

  • "Been a few years since John and I last played, so it's a shame the swirling wind threatened to ruin the occasion. All the best John with your matches."  -- Ian

Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt John Harrison (Feb 7) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "With the game score at 2-0 and some back and forth deuces on Johns serve. We had to take a break due to court bookings. Anyway it was a chance to have a coffee kindly provided by John. Once we started again the caffeine appeared to kick in for me and I continued with the game momentum running away with things. Then i was told it as actually a decaf Coffee!!!! :) Nice to meet you and thanks for the game. "  -- Dean
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt Michael Dyer (Feb 7) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Gentle breeze (unlike 24hrs previously) and starry night always makes for a pleasant evening of tennis. Add into the mix some good humour, then it's ideal. Sadly inconsistency was Michael's enemy this evening, but I can see from his technique and some of the passing shots he hit that the score could have been a lot closer. Thanks for the game, Michael. Keep playing and good luck with the rest of your matches!"  -- Jean-Paul
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt John Finn (Feb 6) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Even when you miss-hit them they go in. That quote from John summed up the game really. It was windier than forecast for sure and an unfamiliar surface to John too. Conditions were challenging with the wind coming across the court and I was certainly fortunate with a few shots that I didn't catch quite right. We still managed a few good rallies and John hit some great shots. Score is harsh, but that is the way it goes sometimes. Good luck in the rest of your matches, John!"  -- Jean-Paul
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt John Harrison (Feb 6) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A blustery match and even a shower early on. It's always a pleasure playing John, but the conditions weren't in his favour today. Despite the wind, we had some great rallie. John was really unlucky with many shots hitting the net chord - had a few been made that could have made a difference to John's game and the score. Fun, as ever. Good luck in your other matches."  -- Jean-Paul
Reveal CommentJohn Harrison bt Ben Friman (Feb 4) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Played on a cold and windy evening under floodlights at BLTC. Despite the weather great to be on the courts again and we had a competitive match with Ben striking some strong passing shots. Good luck Ben for your other matches."  -- John

  • "Both struggled for consistency with some long deuces. Look forward to our next match."  -- John
Reveal CommentIan Holoweckyj bt Joshua Zwetsloot (Feb 2) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Decent conditions for Feb 2nd, Josh has a nice flat serve and hits the ball well, just needs some match time to work on the reducing the error-count. Good run out, scoreline a little harsh. Best of luck with the rest of the league."  -- Ian
Reveal CommentDean Whitestone bt Ben Friman (Feb 1) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Good to start the week of with some tennis plus the sun was out. Nice to meet you Ben. All the best "  -- Dean
Reveal CommentJean-Paul Dowding bt Ben Friman (Jan 30) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Ben broke a string right at the end of the warm up. I gave him a spare racket from my bag, but I think that threw him off in the first set. The second set was much more competitive with Ben landing some strong first serves and punishing anything I landed short, especially on the forehand side. We played a third set which was more competitive still. Overall a fun game and a good excuse for a run about on a Sunday evening. Thanks Ben, good luck in the rest of your matches!!"  -- Jean-Paul
Reveal CommentIan Holoweckyj bt Ben Friman (Jan 29) 6-1, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Strong winds made it challenging to serve, and everything else really - with most points won without the fun of a rally. Pity, but nice to get out and kick the group off nonetheless. Best wishes in your future matches Ben"  -- Ian
