"My opponent and I were chatting... When we joined the league we hadn't played tennis for many years. But then as we played more we both thought we'd improved and gained more confidence and hopefully were playing much better tennis towards the end... It was a very close competition and great fun!"

Jeremy Toogood

"Thanks for placing me in such a great group. As the results indicated, things were pretty even and we all seemed to enter into the spirit of the league and get a lot from the experience,"

Matthew Miles

"I very much enjoyed playing in round 4 of the Bristol Tennis League, even though the standard was higher and wins were a little harder to come by!   Thanks very much for organising the league.  It's been a great experience taking part and has also helped me improve my competitive tennis."

Barrie Britton

"Thank you guys, really enjoyed dusting the racket off and playing again,"

Tom Mooney

"The tennis league is brilliant. I wish I'd discovered it a long time ago - keep up the great work!"

Paul Murray

"Thank you very much and I really look forward to defending my title"

Ben Coleman

Reveal CommentDavid Lane bt Stuart Younger (Apr 9) 6-2, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Stuart was returning to tennis for the first time since lockdown but played some brilliant passing shots and retrievals in our match. We were pretty even until game 4 of set 1, which went to about 9 deuces as he fought to hold serve! I just edged it for 3-1 but it was still close at 4-2 before I stretched out a lead. I relaxed a bit in the second set and played some better tennis, though we had plenty more deuces so it was closer than the scoreline suggests! A friendly match, and looking forward to a social game later down the line. Thanks Stuart for getting back into the swing of it on a first league match!"  -- David

Player Comments:

  • "This was one of the most enjoyable matches I've played, and the scores in the 2nd and 3rd sets do not reflect how close the match was. Adam played some great tennis, and we had many gruelling rallies on the backhand and forehand side. At times it was like playing against a wall with him returning balls I thought he wouldn't get close to. Played in a great spirit in the sunshine, it was a great match. Cheers Adam!"  -- Matthew

Player Comments:

  • "Although it started pretty chilly it turned into a lovely day to play Minkee. We had some very close games with a lot going to deuce, Minkee returns the ball well which led to some long rallies. It turned into a slightly hesitant who makes the mistake first. Great serving by both sides with some fast skidding serves. I got caught by some lovely lob shots. It was great playing and hopefully we will meet again. "  -- Simon

Player Comments:

  • "As always a fantastic match with Eamonn. Lots of great rallies, plenty of Eamonn's signature drop shots, and a lung-busting run around. Add to that the sunshine, wind, rain, and snow flurry that gave us four seasons in an hour. Sometimes it felt like we were playing against the weather as much as each other. Thanks Eamonn for a great afternoon!"  -- Michael
