Player Comments:

  • "Neither Iestyn nor myself had played these boys before; we played at Cardiff Met - indoors. We got off to strong start and that helped us win the first set. There were some decent rallies going on and we enjoyed playing them. Kevin has a lot of potential to improve lots - he has good pace around the court and seemed strong at the net. Josh is a more experienced player with a strong consistent serve. Maybe on another day the scoreline could have been different. Many thanks for the match boys. "  -- Rhodri
Reveal CommentRhodri Price & Iestyn Davies bt Deborah Wilson & Anne Hamilton (Nov 18) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "We played on Deborah and Anne's home turf - Penarth LTC, the surface being asphalt, and weather conditions being dry with no wind - perfect conditions. Iestyn and I got off to a good start, however we found both Deborah's ground strokes, and Anne's net play tricky. Maybe on another day they would have settled faster and it would have been a different scoreline. We eventually won the match, however we both enjoyed playing at a new club and we wish them both the best for the remainder of their matches. Thank you. "  -- Rhodri
Reveal CommentRhodri Price & Iestyn Davies bt Thomas Griffiths & David Saunders (Nov 17) 6-0, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "We played on Heath Park and although a tad cold, conditions were dry and with no wind. My partner, Iestyn had previously played David in a singles LTL round but I had not seen either of them play before. David's first serve is hard to deal with when it goes in, and Thomas's net play is aggressive and good. Maybe 12 months down the line, with regular play, Thomas will become a force to be reckoned with. On the day, Iestyn and myself's longer tennis experience probably paid off, and we overcame, however I loved David's positivity and chattiness throughout the match, and I would welcome future hits with himself and/or Thomas. We had a few games of dingles after the match which was also a lot of fun. Diolch yn fawr! "  -- Rhodri
