A facility built for the local community
The new facility is a Pay & Play Centre open to the public. It runs adult and junior tennis courses and 'drop in' sessions. At the weekends, it is home to the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative coaching programme.
A privately-owned site, it is located in Raynes Park, London. It is owned by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and is 3.5miles from Centre Court.
At the heart of the Community Sports Ground is a Pay & Play tennis centre which is open to the public for casual play, individual and group coaching sessions.
The tennis centre is used by the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative for their weekend coaching sessions.
During the build up to The Championships, the Ball Boys and Ball Girls also use the centre for their training, which can impact on the availability of facilities.
The facilities at the Community Sports Ground include six grass tennis courts and six acrylic hard tennis courts. The acrylic courts are Plexipave, which is the surface used at the Australian Open. Three of the courts are covered by a pressurised dome which is inflated all year round.
There are male and female changing facilities, however there are currently no shower facilities. We have male, female & disabled toilets and there is a break out area to relax in.
Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm
The grass tennis courts are open from May to September. Operating hours of the grass courts vary depending upon weather conditions and rainfall. Before and during the Championships the grass courts are used to provide practise facilities for players competing in the grass court events. After the Championships, courts may be made available for community tennis sessions, subject to availability and weather conditions.
An additional three indoor acrylic courts are being built and 16 championship-standard grass courts, due to open in May 2020. There will also be a new clubhouse with showers and a café.
Courts are bookable 13 days in advance.
Court availability will be very restricted at the following times. This time next year, it will have an additional three indoor acrylic courts and, opening in May 2020, 16 championship standard grass courts, plus a new clubhouse with showers and a café
