There was a real mix of good rallies, lobs, crosscourt winners and drop shots. Player Comments:
- "I have played Craig four times in the past… I have had match point on two of those occasions... I lost all four times. Defeats of this nature do something to a man: they eat away at the very passion you have for the sport. After a while they cause you to ask, “is tennis even for me?” Having gone down 6-0 in the first set to a man I had never beaten, I saw the curtains on my career beginning to close and with Wimbledon around the corner this was a reality I could not bare to face. In many ways I felt like I was playing to save my career. Chants of “Craigy! Craigy!” Echoed through the Hampden Park Arena. In a flashback I remembered this moment, Federer bending down to whisper into my ear “excuse me kid I’m tryna to get past” " -- Jerome
