- "Early on we had 6 games that all went to deuce but ended with the server winning each game. The key seemed to be who would break the other person's serve first. Fortunately for me I did that, taking a 4-3 lead and then held serve to be 5-3. With the momentum in my favour I then got a double break and took the firstset. The second set was equally close but I got an early break which Michael later broke back. At 4-3 the game was finely balanced, but then we both broke each other . - "This match was played on a really warm Wednesday evening at Victoria Park tennis courts under the lights. Such a massive difference in weather since my previous encounter with Jo was played in snow and frost. I was receiving to begin the match because it was my opponent’s choice to serve. An expectedly tight set 1 because Jo was hugely accurate with his ground strokes during numerous good rallies but a significant amount of luck resulted in my winning of the set 7-5. In set 2 there was a moment almost virtually identical to set 1 when luck was once again on my side as during a rally a tennis ball clipped the net and dropped over. I’m chuffed to get another victory as I bounce back from my most recent defeat. Good luck Jo for future matches!" -- Mayur

- "My 100th Local Tennis Leagues singles match across both Leicester and Nottingham against an opponent with four wins in four matches in our head to head. I was yet to play a winning style of tennis against Tim until this meeting. It took three sets to finish the job but in the end the result was a victory in an hour and fifty minutes. I played my best tennis in set 1. Tim who chose to serve at the beginning of the match played his best tennis in set 2 followed by a strong response by me in set 3. There was quite a significant level of running from both players, not just lateral but forwards and backwards too. Victoria Park courts hosted this match. - "Great game on a hot day in September, We both seemed to have good runs of winning 3 games in a row. So I started with a 3-0 lead, followed by Dan bringing the game level to 3-3. Then I was glad to both hold me serve and break Dan's to lead 5-3, finally winning set one 6-3. The second set started a bit more even 1-1, but then I got the customary 3 in a row to lead 4-1 before Dan took 3 games to draw 4-4. I then got a crucial break to lead 5-4 and with that advantage got to serve for the match. I went ahead 3-0 in set 1 securing a double break of serve inside the opening 20 minutes of the match. Michal did really well to win a game although set 1 concluded swiftly in my favour at 6-1. Michal proved his intelligence by increasing his level of tennis including a fantastic spin serve. Set 2 went to a tiebreak. I was 5-6 down when I hit a big first serve resulting in winning a point bringing it to 6-6 only to then repeat the feat with another massive first serve to move ahead 7-6. - "The match was played on a Monday in fair conditions. I’m grateful to have been invited to play at Victoria Park courts. The match began with Sanoj choosing to serve first. I battled my way through set 1 and I ended up winning it 6-4. Set 2 was a great fight by both players but it ultimately went 6-4 against me partly due to excellent defensive play by Sanoj. Set 3 I tried my best to just stay in the match for as long as possible especially since I had just lost set 2 convincingly. Luckily I won set 3 6-3 and with it securing the match. My serves were alright and I was specifically pleased with my two-handed backhand shots because I’ve struggled in recent times but I found some nice angles using two hands.
