- "Really competitive match with Ionut on a very cold morning! First set was very tight all the way through with just the one break each. Ionut served for the 1st set at 5-4 but I managed to hang in there and broke back for 5-5. Next two games went with serve before heading to a tiebreaker in which there were several long rallies which eventually led to me serving at 6-5, a long rally then prevailed which ended with me putting away an overhead and with it taking the opening set. Second set I started strongly going a double break up to lead 4-1 and despite Ionut getting one of the breaks back I managed to get to 5-4 and serve the match out on my 3rd match point, to take set 6-4 and with it the match. - "Very competitive match on a very cold day! We managed to get the only court that wasn’t covered in ice. Erlens plays a similar style to me and it seemed at times to be the battle of the slice! First set was full of long and fun rallies where Erlens took an early break to lead 4-2 but I managed to get back on track with a break to make it 4-4. I had 40-0 in the next game but lost that one before breaking back for 5-5. Next two games were tight but Erlens edged them to take the set. 2nd set was similar and at 4-4 I came back from 0-40 to hold serve before breaking in the next game with a drop shot to take the set and make it 1-1. Unfortunately we had to then come off the court as someone else was booked on so was unable to complete the match!" -- Matthew

- "Great game with Arnoldas…..as always! First set was an hour with so many rallies we were both exhausted by the end of it! After going 3-0 down I managed to get a game on the board and then played very consistently to get back to 4-4. I managed to break next game and then served out the first set to 15. Second set Arnoldas kept up the intensity as I began to fade a bit and he thoroughly deserved to take the set 6-1. Into the decider and another long set with plenty of rallies began. Deciding moment for me was at 3-2 down when I had a few chances to get level at 3-3 and didn’t take them, from that point Arnoldas played solid tennis and in the end deservedly won the deciding set 6-2 and with that the match! - "First match between Ionut and me. Ionut is new to the league so he started a bit nervous and I had an easy lead with 4-0, but he managed to claim back to 4-4 and from this moment the game was more consistent and thrilling. In the tie brake I managed to stay ot to and took with 7-4. In the second set changed the tactics and he played more offensive tennis but unforced errors was more common as well. I've settled an early lead again and closed the game in straight sets 7/6 6/2. In few words I think this was one of the most enjoyable game, because he had a decent backhand and all around game, so with more experience and practice he will be on the top of his game soon. - "Great game with Kolyo which lasted over 2 hours! Kolyo, as he often does against me, came out firing hitting a number of winners in a 20 minute first set exhibition! He carried that form into the 2nd set taking a 3-0 lead playing some great tennis. After this the tide seemed to change as I dug in to win the next few games to get back to 3-3. Kolyo began to start missing a few more shots now and I managed to take the momentum as I broke again to make it 5-3 and then served the set out. So into the decider which lasted an hour with some exhausting, but great rallies! 3 games alone had around 12 deuces in each! At 4-3 on serve I managed to break to love and then thankfully served out the match 6-3. Great game as always Kolyo!" -- Matthew

- "Nice morning for a game though conditions were quite heavy. Into the first set and after a 16 minute opening game which had about 15 deuces I finally managed to break and from then on I took control of the set and hit quite a few winners on my way to winning it 6-2! Into the second set and this was a much tighter affair with just the one break, which was enough to take me to 5-4 and serve for the match. As always it gets a bit tight when serving for it and John had 3 chances to break back which I managed to save all of them…. one with a fortune net cord!, and on my second match point hit a forehand winner to take the set and match 6-4. - "Always a tight game with Janis and this one was no different in what was soggy conditions due to the rain. I got broken early and soon found myself down 4-2 down. I managed to hold my next game before breaking back for 4-4. Another tight game followed with several deuces before I held for 5-4. Next two games went with serve for me to lead 6-5. The rain at this point was very heavy which made the next game a bit of a slog but I managed to dig out 3 break points to make it 0-40 and luckily won the first of those to take the set 7-5. Unfortunately rain then halted play…………tbc " -- Matthew
- "Finally got round to finishing this match with Janis. Having played yesterday in the cold and some ice it was back to normal wet and windy conditions today! I managed to come out the blocks quickly and broke early for a 4-1 lead. Janis, who started slowly, began to pick his game up and managed to win the next 3 games which had a number of long and gruelling rallies. At 4-4 I managed to hold my next service game to love and then at 5-4 played a good solid game which included a forehand winner on match point to secure the victory for me! Always a lot of fun playing Janis so will look forward to the next one. " -- Matthew

First set started close each breaking twice before Janis held to go 4-2 up. One more break followed late on for a 6-3 first set. - "Nice morning for a game though a bit breezy at times. Damian is new to the league and settled in quite nicely taking an early break opportunity to move 3-1 up. It’s a while since I have played a lefty so took some time to adapt but eventually I managed to break back for 3-3. Next followed a mammoth game of around 20 mins and 12 deuces. In it was some excellent rallies and some great winners from both. Some how I managed to get through it and carried that momentum through to break Damian in the next game and then hold to love to take the set. An early break at the start of the second put me on the front foot and I managed to hold that advantage through to 5-3 where I broke again to take the match with a nice forehand passing shot!
