Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of up to 8 people of a similar standard
  • Contact details are emailed
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everybody!
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls).
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a certificate and tennis prizes
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

Getting started

New players will need to complete the player questionnaire before they can join a round. Once you’ve signed up, and for returning players you can join any of the upcoming rounds above.

For everything you need to know before you get started see the FAQs and review the Rules and Regulations, which all players agree to adhere to when playing in the leagues.

If there is anything else you need help with get in contact with Nigel, Sally and the team who will be happy to help!

"Thanks for your organisation. I’ve really enjoyed the 2 leagues this year,"

Norwich - Stephen Alger

"Fantastic. I thought I'd hardly play due to the winter weather but managed to get all games in", Richard Powell

Richard Powell

"I thoroughly enjoyed this round, as I have the others. This has been my best year of tennis since school thanks to this league and I've been happy to recommend it to others,"

Mark Waters

"The leagues seem to work very well and without exception all the players have been great to meet",

John Kingsmill

"Really enjoyed it and very surprised to have won. I didn't know what to expect regarding the standard but most of the matches were close. Thank you for organising,"

Mark Taylor

"Thanks for the updates, commentaries and scores....a great incentive to get on and play. I was going to wait unitl July to enter but took the plunge after four and a half months off with a back injury so the fitness has gone out the window but I figured, what the heck... make hay while the sun shines besides which I am getting to meet players who enjoy singles!"

Player Comments:

  • "This was a marathon match played over 2.5 hours and could not have been closer. Every tactic that could be played was attempted, making it very much a cat and mouse affair. It came down to who would blink first! Many games went to deuce. The 3rd game in the last set went to around 15 of the buggars! and ended up being a 15 minute game all on its own. We certainly managed to get our 10,000 steps in as well. In the end it could have gone either way. Thanks fot the match Paul."  -- Andy
Reveal CommentAndy Turner bt Jesse Farrell (Oct 14) 6-2, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "We decided to play this one indoors due to the weather forecast. The score does not really represent how close the game was which had some great rallies. Some of the first serves from both sides were first class at times and almost impossible to return. Jesse probably made more unforced errors which was the difference in the end. It was a very enjoyable game and played with good sportsmanship."  -- Andy
Reveal CommentRichard Powell bt Jesse Farrell (Oct 9) 6-2, 1-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

Reveal CommentAndy Turner bt Adam Fryatt (Sep 24) 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This was very much a Jekyll and Hyde game in terms of both our game play. 40 loves gave way to games losses. 5, 1 up in the second set gave way to a tiebreak, good tennis gave way to shockin mistakes and both of us were frustrated at times with our own game play. In the end it could easily have gone either way. At least the game was friendly and played in good spirits."  -- Andy
Reveal CommentChris Bunn bt Paul Martin (Sep 23) 3-6, 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A great battle which was played on a damp morning with a mild chill. Simon played a great ground stroke game which hit its stride in the 2nd set. Simon won 4 games on the bounce. Displaying one of the best back hand down the line I have ever seen. Adam came off court wondering how he had won as he was constantly on the back foot and being pushed corner to corner by Simons great shot selection. Simon showed good tactics and game play to make this a real battle. Well done a real gent."  -- Adam

Player Comments:

  • "Beautiful sunny autumn day, though the sun was low and was causing problems at one end of the court. It was a tight match with a couple of long deuces. In the second set, Mary went 4-2 up and serving. Luckily I started to find my rhythm and break Mary's serve to break back and again to go a break up and win the second set. It was great to play you again Mary and I wish you all the best with your remaining matches."  -- Jack

Reveal CommentVictoria Chubb bt Cathy Geary (Oct 13) 7-5, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "The most challenging conditions I have ever played in! Perfect temperature and a beautiful autumnal day but, by God, the match was played in almost farcical condtions due to a wild wind swirling everywhere and persistently throughout the entire match. Victoria led the first set 5-1 with her patience dwindling allowing Claire to claw the first set back to 5-5. To her credit claire handled the very very challenging conditions far better than me. I broke again to lead 6-5 and literally, while bouncing the ball to serve for the first set, found myself thinking what would Nadal do right now!? I held serve to win 7-5. After a scrappy 2nd set I won 6-3. Lovely to meet Claire whose dedication to the game means she travels in from Dereham! "  -- Victoria

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game with some long rallies on a slightly blustery day, with otherwise good conditions. Cathy had Mary running around all over the place and certainly didn't make it easy for her to win the final set, winning a game at 5-1 and then playing out a long deuce point for the final game of the set. Look forward to playing you again in the future Cathy."  -- Mary
