Player Comments:

  • "After a short shower in te morning the match was put back to 12 and luckily the rain held off although as ever for this winter the wind made an appearance. Very close match , I kept up a slight lead in the first set , it got very tight towards the business end when there were some tough deuce games but I managed to win it 7-5. I took a quick lead 3-0 in the second but as ever with Liz you can't let up as she's very likely to come back which she did but luckily I managed to close it out at 6-4. Thanks Liz, great match as always."  -- Linda

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely to play Maggie again. The first set was a 'getting to know you again' set which Maggie put to good use in the second, she had me running all over the court and it was as much as I could do just to get the ball back into play. Maggie got better and better as the match went on, luckily for me it didn't go to a 3rd set. Thanks Maggie for a thoroughly enjoyable match."  -- Linda

Reveal CommentLinda May bt Marion Arnold (Feb 8) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely to meet Marion and welcome her to the League. We had a thoroughly enjoyable match at Aylsham. I hadn't played there for years and was impressed with the condition of the courts. It was a lovely day but the sun and the wind were a bit challenging at one end. We had some good rallies and the first set was close. I managed to get into my stride and pull away in the second set. Great play from Marion considering she's only been playing a year and this is her first match. First of many more I hope."  -- Linda

Beate led the chasing pack and finished just two points behind. A very high percentage of possible matches played here too, well done all.

Reveal CommentBeate Becker bt Victoria Chubb (Mar 22) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "This might the last match of the women's league for some time. Victoria and I kept appropriate social distance throughout the match but we couldn't help enjoying a good chat while playing. Victoria did well in slightly windy conditions although we both lost lots of points through hitting the net in first half. we had some good rallies in second half and some of Victoria's returns were very sharp. Hopefully these days of Corona Crisis will motivate more people to (safely) explore more activities outdoors but for the moment it will be goodbye league but hope to see everybody soon again. lovely sunshine and though "  -- Beate

Player Comments:

  • "With storm dennis raging outside we played indoors but had to stop after nearly two hours as the court was booked at 4pm. Weather permitting we hope to continue the 3rd set outside next week at Sprowston park. Watch this space! "  -- Victoria
  • "Great to finish our game today. We had to stop at one set all last time, so it was quite tense to play today. I enjoyed playing against Victoria as we were quite equally matched. She has some great shots and a very fast serve (and sometimes a bit scary!) to return. Thanks for organising the court, Victoria," -- Susan
Wendy Thomson bt Beate Becker (Mar 9) 6-2, 6-1

Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentRhiannon Mullen bt Victoria Chubb (Mar 8) 6-1, 3-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great to see rhiannon again. We always go the distance and this game was no exception! We are now level at 2 wins apiece! A deserved win for rhiannon who coped far better than me with the strong winds and plummeting temperature in the final set. Look forward to a re-match in warmer conditions! "  -- Victoria
Wendy Thomson bt Iona De Wal (Mar 8) 6-0, 6-4
Reveal CommentBeate Becker bt Iona De Wal (Mar 7) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A great balanced match including long Rallyes and deuces in mostly sunny though blustery conditions. Iona pushed me back to the serving line a lot and got plenty of points with balls placed precisely on line or just inside. She had another match to play straight after but wasn’t saving her energy and I it was a close draw in 2 sets. "  -- Beate
Reveal CommentVictoria Chubb bt Iona De Wal (Mar 7) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Storm Jorge was more in control of this match than we were, but after a morning of rain, the sun came out for us. It was lovely to be playing outside and we had a lot of fun with the wind. I'm sure without it, the score would have been quite different. "  -- Susan

Player Comments:

  • "Good game with many rallies. Closer than the score suggests. Thanks Susan and welcome to our group"  -- Wendy
Reveal CommentBeate Becker bt Susan Pollock (Feb 7) 7-5, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "What a great balanced game in beautiful sunshine. Sue was glad to find out I am no relative of Boris and nowhere near as capable. Nevertheless, we had some fantastic rallies, quite a few deuces and I was impressed by Sues's nifty fitness - regular Parkrun explains it! We got in a bit of a muddle counting in the second set, distracted by chatting in between games, but in the end we were both happy to have completed with 2 sets played over 2 hours:)"  -- Beate
