Player Comments:

  • "It was our last chance to get this match played and the weather was miserable. It rained and snowed and was quite blustery. Despite the challenging conditions Hilary and I battled through. With many games going to deuce it was an excellent match. Hilary has some lovely shots and got me running round the court which was a good job as it helped me to keep warm. Thank you for a great match Hilary."  -- Cathy

Player Comments:

Reveal CommentMaggie Finck bt Angie Rusbridge (Mar 11) 6-4, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The gusty wind and the sun were both against us and despite having the court booked for two hours we only managed to play one set. We had many deuce games with the battle at 3:2 being almost endless and using up a lot of the time. I managed to push ahead but it could have gone either way, We are hoping for calmer conditions to continue the match... Not to be unfortunately, the wind wasn't quite as bad but it was strong and gusty and made its presence felt throughout the final set. Angie wasn't feeling 100% either. We had some close games and it felt much closer than the score suggests, i just managed to win the points that made the difference."  -- Maggie

I made a lot of mistakes in the first set and Cathy adjusted better than I did and went ahead 4-1. In the end I managed to get myself a bit more disciplined to just take the set 7-5. Despite the score, the second set was also a roller coaster ride with many deuce games, it seems I was able to win the points that counted. A good match, thanks Cathy."  -- Maggie
