Reveal CommentDaniel Kelter bt Rob Dale (Jul 29) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A good game in excellent conditions. enjoyable conest for both. Kelter's first serve was the differnce today. Set 1 - Very strong first serves by Kelter, holding all service games and breaking Rob at the busness end of the set. Some good ralleys and go passing shots from Rob when kelter came to net. Set 2 - Very similar to the first set. Some good ralleys thoughout the set and good winning shots. With Kelter not losing a service game this was key to the result. "  -- Daniel
Reveal CommentRobert Rhodes bt Martin Walker (Jul 17) 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Three breaks of serve in the first set saw Martin take a 3-1 lead, almost 4-1, then Rob went on a 7 game run to take the first set 6-3 and take a 2-0 lead in the second, Martin dug deep and reacted superbly to take the 2nd set lead 4-2, serving at 5-3 Martin let Rob back in at 5-5 the second set ended up with a tie breaker which Martin thoroughly deserved after making more of his shots than Rob. The winning set point was an amazing cross court scramble which fizzed past Rob at the net on the angle out of reach. 3rd set both players blistering up, power shots slightly down but the 10K of running covered shows the quality of the rallies and effort put in.RR went 3 up to be pegged back 4-3 down then saw out the match 6-4 to take his 8th title"  -- Robert
Reveal CommentDaniel Kelter bt Arvind Kumar (Jul 17) 6-3, 4-6, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Great contest. Both played with high sprints. Great rallies throughout the match . First set Kelter took control wining the key points and breaks to juice. Second set Arvind changed his game plan coming into the net when knocking me to base line and volleyed excellently. Third set Kelter started playing passing shots and was more aggressive controlling the set. Great game for both."  -- Daniel
Reveal CommentDaniel Kelter bt Dean Sibson (Jul 15) 7-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "First set could of gone either way. Very close contest with both holding onto serves well. Very long ralleys big shots played to win big points. Second set still holding the same standard, but with the big points and ralleys won by Kelter. Great game, Great constest."  -- Daniel
Reveal CommentGuy Forrest-Hay bt Rob Dale (Jul 13) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable encounter - most pleasant way to spend a Monday evening. "  -- Guy
Reveal CommentMartin Walker bt Arvind Kumar (Jul 6) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable match played in warm sunshine. Walker settled quickly and hit lots of forehand winners. Several games saw excellent long rallies and Kumar at the net was exceptional. The best volleying I've seen in the league so far! On a different day the score would have been closer but Walkers forehand and lob worked throughout and proved too big a weapon overall. Looking forward to our next encounter. "  -- Martin
Reveal CommentMartin Walker bt Daniel Kelter (Jul 5) 6-0, 3-6, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Walker started well and showed good consistency and controlled the game well. Kelter was making errors and couldn't get into the game. First set over in a flash. 2nd set seemed to be heading the same way with Walker 3-1 up and 40-15 to the good but Dan showed great character to dig in and mix the game up a bit and make Walker make the errors. Kelter took the set 3-6. With the wind picking up the 3rd set was full of unforced errors which was a shame as the contest deserved better. Walker created himself match points at 5-4 but Kelter kept coming back. More match points came Walkers way and he eventually saw the match out. Hopefully the next meeting will be without strong winds. The joys of the Brittish summer! "  -- Martin
Reveal CommentDean Sibson bt Rob Dale (Jul 4) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Good to get a game in with Rob, having never played before. Dean took an early 3-0 lead in the first set but Rob came back well with some lovely winners to level at 3-3. Dean went on to take the first set 6-3 and the second 6-1 but lots of good rallies and the match was a lot closer than the score would suggest. Look forward to playing Rob again. "  -- Dean
Reveal CommentRobert Rhodes bt Daniel Kelter (Jul 3) 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Started in damp conditions, courts drying then some showers, Dan struggled first set for grip to move at the baseline, but 2nd set seemed to find his footing better, can't believe it's July playing in cold, damp, blustry conditions. "  -- Robert
Reveal CommentArvind Kumar bt Ian Whittaker (Jul 2) 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Good match, could have gone either way. Ian played fantastic consistent tennis throughout first set drawing errors from opponent. Second continued the same until one break of serve helped. Great come back Ian in the third from 1-4down to 4 all. Very friendly personality cool too. "  -- Arvind

Player Comments:

  • "Always some excellent rallies. Arvind broke Rob first game after Rob hit all first serves in, some long deuce games brought up some tight encounters in both sets. Great contest as always, plenty of the court covered by both players😀"  -- Robert
Reveal CommentDaniel Kelter bt Ian Whittaker (Jun 30) 6-0, 5-7, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Dan played a patient game letting Ian, particularly in the first set make the errors. The second set was a lot closer with Ian just snatching it in the end. Normal service was resumed for the last set, Dan keeping the rallies going, ratcheting up the pressure till the inevitable errors returned. Good game."  -- Ian

  • "its always a pleasure to play with Dean, great attitude and spirit. first Set : Dean started well, with accurate serves and finishing the points quicker. Second set , Arvind managed to re- group and was leading 4-2 when Dean came back with 2 great games and levelling 4-4. Managed to close 6-4. Over enjoyed the match inspite of gusting wind. "  -- Arvind
Reveal CommentGuy Forrest-Hay bt Arvind Kumar (Jun 28) 6-2, 3-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Really appreciate Guy for his gesture to give me a gradual warm up as this is first time on court after year. What a terrible windy day Guy started well. Long rallies, Guy took first set. Second started well with break of serves and was tensed 3all. Arvind managed to push to the match. 2nd Arvind got a good start with 2-0, however Guy came up well and played fantastic to close the match. Except for the awful windy conditions great spirit and throughly enjoyed. Thanks "  -- Arvind

Player Comments:

  • "Nice early start, tight first set at 3.3 Ian went a break up and had a few set points at 5.3, eventually Rob squeezed it to the tie breaker where he ran away with it. Second set Rob got into his groove with a 6.1 win. A lovely morning, Ian served solidly throughout and was the more consistent player in the first set, unlucky not to take it on reflection. Look forward to meeting again 😀"  -- Robert

Strong start from Walker going 5 nil up but Guy responded well winning the next 3 games before Walker served out the set. 2nd set similar pattern. Walker 4 up but guy dug in!
