Reveal CommentRobert Rhodes bt Martin Walker (Jun 6) 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "As ever a tough battle on court with Martin, both covering a lot of ground across the 1hr 45mins match. First set with serve until Martin Broke at 4-3 to go 5-3 up, he held a set point but the first set went to a tie breaker. Rob held on for a 7-3 tie breaker to take the first set, 2nd set started like the first but this time Martin broke for a 5-2 lead, again Rob had to dig deep and save another set point to force another tiebreaker, this tie breaker was much closer with martin been more aggressive but Rob held on for a 7-5 win and pip Martin. Fine margins between both of us, I'm sure he will have the better real soon. Look forward to playing again soon Martin, great match as ever."  -- Robert

Reveal CommentMartin Walker bt Guy Forrest-Hay (May 27) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great to finally get some decent weather! Both players struggled to really get going throughout the match. Most points gained by unforced errors rather than winners. Guy produced shot of the match with a cracking drop shot winner from behind his baseline. Overall Martin was more consistent and made less errors which proved decisive in this match.Good to get this this one in and looking forward to our next encounter."  -- Martin
Reveal CommentRobert Rhodes bt Guy Forrest-Hay (May 23) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Super match and the longest I've ever been involved with in the league a good 2 hour tussle this morning, which started off in damp drizzle, Guy took the first set after a few good breaks and saw it out 6-4. Rob returned in the second set with more consistency and raced through to take it 6-1. Guy then started the better in the final set decider taking a 2-0 lead, Rob then pegged it back to take a 3-2 lead then it remained tight all the way with Rob edging out 6-4. A great encounter played in the right spirit, Guy serving very consistently and been aggressive into the net on many occasions, Rob having to play some very accurate passes to stand a chance. See you in the next round Guy :)"  -- Robert
Reveal CommentRobert Rhodes bt Carol Bradley (May 12) 6-0, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "Lovely to meet up with Carol after playing a few years ago. Courts where a bit damp, the odd spitting of rain, but it didn't dampen our spirits after the past 12 months it was great to be out playing again on court. Thanks Carol good luck in your remaining matches :)"  -- Robert
Reveal CommentGuy Forrest-Hay bt Rob McNinch (May 9) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Really enjoyable knock - great to have another fine gent in the mix (very jealous of the beard!). A couple straight out of the middle of the racket for Rob, but my consistent depth seems to have tipped the day. Thanks for making the effort to travel down from Congleton - until next time!!"  -- Guy
Reveal CommentGuy Forrest-Hay bt Carol Bradley (May 7) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Delightful first game back. Think we brought out the best in each other. Carol chased down absolutely everything and, undoubtedly, some of the shots of the game game from the acute cross court angles she created - often under pressure. Really enjoyed it and look forward to playing again!! (And playing her husband at RacketBall!!)"  -- Guy

Player Comments:

  • "It felt good to be back on court. I was able find a good rhythm in my game in the first set while James struggled to find his serve. In the second, James found his forehand and hit some troubling deep cross court shots. He was also able to capitalise on some poor serving from me, however I was able to see off the set and win the match. Thanks for the advice James and enjoy getting back into playing more regularly!
