Great British Tennis Weekend

The Great British Tennis Weekend is a nationwide celebration of tennis for all the family.

Each summer there are thousands of these free tennis events accross country and many are this weekend. They offer everyone a great chances to get involved in the local tennis community, whether that's by taking your kids along to the junior events or having a hit with other adult players.

We caught up with LTL supporter Christine Randall-Klee, Regional Tennis Competition Coordinator for the North to tell us more.

"We're really excited that the Great British Tennis Weekend is hitting the North this summer. With so many park sites and clubs right across the region running their own Great British Tennis Weekend there really is something for everyone. I hope families take the opportunity to take part in these fantastic events and ready themselves for what is set to be a fantastic summer of tennis, as we get behind Andy Murray, Jo Konta and the British tennis stars. 143 venues have signed up to host a free GBTW open day so far across the North in 2018.

Great British Tennis Weekend Open Days are a great opportunity for people to try tennis for free in a relaxed and fun environment. Attendees can take part in sessions including Cardio Tennis, Mini Tennis and tennis coaching – all completely free as part of the LTA’s drive to get more people playing tennis more often."

Across these 143 venues, a total of 218 events are being run, with 2495 bookings already made, and that's just in the north of the UK! With 460 LTA registered club venues and 115,000 club members in the North (not including the thousands of park players and non-club members who've only just got involved), you can see just how exciting an event the Great British Tennis Weekend can be for the whole country!
