Match of the Group:

Reveal CommentIain Wadey bt Martin Roberts (Dec 2) 2-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "An exhausting 3 hour match on a day with an arctic wind and a blindingly low sun. Conditions were tough, particularly from one end, but the match was keenly fought with a large proportion of games going to multiple deuces. Martin's serve was very accurate and he deserved the first set comfortably. I had to fight hard in the second set and only managed to win by tie break which certainly could have gone either way. From a 3-3 position in the third set I managed to get some momentum (helped by a lot of luck) to seal the match. Not the greatest display of tennis overall, due to the conditions, but a hard fought contest from both players. Good luck in your remaining matches Martin!"  -- Iain

Reveal CommentDan Wray bt Neil Zealander (Nov 18) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great to play Neil again. The conditions were very very tough. It was blowing a gale and one half of the court was also in blinding sun for the first 30mins or so. The wind was very tricky to navigate (we even had to stop and Google the rules when my shot blew back over to my side after bouncing on Neil's without him having chance to hit it) so that impacted the flow of the game. That said, we did have some close ones and some good rallies. Neil's serving was particularly strong and had me in trouble a fair few times. Also, just remembered I left my sunglasses on the court - bugger. "  -- Dan
