Vertical Tabs

This is how it works:

  • Players are organised into groups of between 5 to 9 people of a similar standard
  • It is a mixed sex, singles league, so men and women play each other
  • Groups are put together by standard and there can be any combination of men and women in a group (we do not guarantee a balance of men and women and you could be the only man in a group of women or vice versa!)
  • Contact details are emailed and posted to each player's account page
  • Players arrange their own matches
  • You can play on any court that suits both players

The league is:

  • For everyone over the age of 18
  • We welcome beginners as well as advanced players.
  • Don't worry that you won't be good enough - playing matches is the best way to improve, and we use an online questionnaire to assess people's ability so you play only people of a roughly similar level
  • Affiliated to the LTA For adults aged 18 years and above

Key points

  • Matches are best of three sets; if a set reaches 6 games all it is decided by a tiebreak
  • The evening before the round starts you will receive an email with all the contact details of the players in your group. Contact details are also posted to your Account Page
  • Players are placed in groups according to past performance in the league and, for new players, their Player Standard Questionnaire
  • Each player attempts to play each of the other player on their group once during the round
  • A point is awarded for each set won
  • If you complete three matches before the midpoint of a round you receive 2 bonus points and a bonus prize (either a pair of Local Tennis Leagues dampeners, or a tube of tennis balls)
  • The winner of the group is the player with the most points at the end of the round
  • The winner of the group wins a voucher for £20 to be spent in the Local Tennis League online shop. A winner's certificate is also posted to the winner's Account Page as a PDF file.
  • Where possible, winners of groups are promoted to the group above for the next round.

"Want to say a big thanks to both you and Sally for all your help! You're a credit to yourselves and tennis at grassroots level,"

Anthony

"Am really pleased to have joined the St Albans version of what I used to play at Highbury Fields. Great that Ed is a member at Townsend TC as we got to play on clay. A competitive match with some long rallies. I look forward to playing Ed again sometime,"

Alun Davies

"Cannot wait till the next round, I really enjoyed myself in this round. Overall, the concept of Local Tennis Leagues is a wonderful idea....",

Pavel Novotny

"What a lovely write up. It's nice to get mentioned a few times too, even though I couldn't get a single win. Never mind, it was my first go! This was my first ever time playing competitive tennis and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought everybody was really friendly and there was no tennis snobbery to be seen - something that I had previously been afraid of. I have already played Bish again and managed to get a set off him, so there's hope for me in the next round. You guys deserve continued success with this venture, it really works well. I look forward to the next round as my next task is to sign up for the next league,"

David Taske

"Very enjoyable thanks. Everyone really friendly. And the organisation was excellent so thank you,"

Adam

"Excellent fun, really enjoyed it, met some nice people, am looking forward to the next round,"

Sunil Mehra

Player Comments:

  • "Our first game was by far the longest game of the match with 7 deuces on my serve but i managed to survive and eventually took the game. I started to warm up and took a 4-1 lead being aggressive on return, Laurence then really dug in putting me on the back foot with his big backhand several times and got the match back to 4-3. From this point on i raised my level attacking with my forehand and took the set 6-3 and went 5-1 40-15 up. Laurence bravely saved 2 match points to make it 5-2, before i finished off the match in the following game. "  -- Liam

Reveal CommentLaurence Hubbard bt Richard Washbrook (Nov 30) 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3)

Player Comments:

  • "Very up and down match with periods of high quality and periods of high error counts. We split the first two sets and then I went 4-0 up in the 3rd set before Richard fought back. Probably the best tennis was played at 5-5 in the 3rd and then I managed to edge the tie break. Looking forward to our next game :)"  -- Laurence
Reveal CommentLaurence Hubbard bt Brandon Baldwin (Nov 25) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Very tight first set with lots of big serves and long rallies. However, this was Brandon's 3rd match in 2 days and it took it's toll as he struggled to serve in the 2nd set. Looking forward to playing Brandon again at full strength!"  -- Laurence
Reveal CommentAndrew De Csillery bt Brandon Baldwin (Nov 24) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "This was one of those games when everything came together. I served well, made very few errors, and so put Brandon under a lot of pressure. Wish I could play that well all the time! But there were some good rallies and a very tight game in the middle of the second set was key to closing things out. Thanks for the game and good luck for the remaining ones Brandon."  -- Andrew
Reveal CommentBrandon Baldwin bt Richard Washbrook (Nov 24) 6-1, 4-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A long gruelling match with very long rallies. "  -- Brandon
Reveal CommentLiam Baldwin bt Andrew De Csillery (Nov 17) 6-3, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "A enjoyable game with Andrew with lots of hard hitting throughout, i just managed to hit a bit bigger in the match outhitting him and Andrew missed a few short balls which made all the difference. Usually our matches are a lot tighter! Look forward to the next one. "  -- Liam
Reveal CommentAndrew De Csillery bt Kevin Lomas (Nov 10) 4-6, 6-3, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "A long tight match that I finally managed to see out. The first set only had one break of service and was close throughout but I couldn’t make any real impact on Kevin’s serve. The second set I upped my game, started to hit more winners and went into a 5-1 lead before Kevin got back to 5-3. There then followed a mammoth service game with about 10 deuces, numerous set points and break points before I finally closed out the set. I got an early break in the final set, which then hinges on another big service game for me at 3-2 with another 10 deuces. Eventually I won this and then saw out the set. Thanks for an enjoyable game Kevin and look forward to the next one. "  -- Andrew
Reveal CommentKevin Lomas bt Laurence Hubbard (Nov 3) 6-3, 2-6, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Topsey turvey match with Laurence and after i played a match just before this i thought i would struggle. It took a while for Laurence to get going and i capitalised on this in the first set clinching it 6-3. The 2nd set he took advantage of my tiredness storming into a 5-0 lead and in all honesty with cramp setting in i thought i may not finish the match. I got a couple games back to save face but he fully deserved the 6-2 scoreline. In the 3rd i knew i had to try and move a bit more abd i managed to lead 5-1 only for doubt to creep into my mind and he came back 5-3. It was a huge relief to eventually win 6-3 as i found it very hard to avoid his powerful backhand. As always thanks for the match and you will no doubt get me next time. "  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentRichard Washbrook bt Andrew De Csillery (Nov 3) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Nice fast courts at Hatfield and it was servers advantage for the first 4 or 5 games. As we got our range, it became harder to hold as returns were being fired back. Serving first I just kept ahead and edged some important games. The second Andrew came out fighting, i tried to break him down on his backhand - solid. Anything on the forehand was put away. I lost my serve a little but only because Andrew was putting me under so much pressure. A high quality second set from Andrew. Third set started with 2 breaks, My next two service games I held after being under a lot of pressure and many deuces and game points for both of us. Holding those probably turned the match but far from comfortable. I look forward to the next run around!"  -- Richard
Reveal CommentAndy Shanks bt Richard Washbrook (Nov 2) 6-2, 5-7, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Great long battle with Rich but one of those matches where neither of us played our best at the same time so a real yoyo of momentum. I had the initial momentum helped by Rich's first serve netting (but only just) and a couple of very close misses to take the first but then Rich battled back taking 5 games in a row before the momentum switched back to me. Look forward to next time when hopefully we play well at the same time."  -- Andy
Reveal CommentLiam Baldwin bt Kevin Lomas (Oct 30) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Another close match with Kevin with Kevin fighting back from a deficit on a few occasions. I took a 3-1 lead hitting lots of winners and finishing off at the net. At 30-0 (3-1) on serve i was in control, but Kevin dug in as he always does and took that game and then broke me at 5-5 to take a 6-5 lead! I was in trouble at this point but i managed to dig in myself and got to the tiebreak, where i raised my game and took it 7-4. In the 2nd i felt confident and was outplaying Kevin racing to a 4-0 lead i was cruising. But Kevin never goes down without a fight and got back to 4-3 slicing deep and coming to the net on many occasions which worked well, luckily i found my form and saw out the last 2 games! Fun match in the bubble thanks mate!"  -- Liam
Reveal CommentKevin Lomas bt Brandon Baldwin (Oct 28) 7-6 (7-5), 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "It was a bizarre start to our match playing in an outside bubble in Northwood. Every word we spoke was echoed including the odd swear word in frustration. Then we had fireworks adding to that echo which sounded like we were having more of an odd disco than a tennis match! Onto the tennis Brandon played very well taking control of the 1st set only for me to somehow take it to a tie break and steal it 7-5. The 2nd set i started well and at 3-1 Brandon played some aggressive tennis firing lovely shots up and down the lines to lead 3-4. I then managed somehow again to put the pressure back on him and win 6-4. After losing numerous tennis balls somehow it was an unusual match but a very enjoyable one. Look forward to our next match. "  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentLiam Baldwin bt Richard Washbrook (Oct 27) 6-0, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable match with Richard, who struggled to get going in the first set but played some good tennis in the 2nd set, I was consistent throughout but I think it was just a bad day for Rich as our other matches have been a lot closer. Until the next one mate :)"  -- Liam
Reveal CommentLaurence Hubbard bt Andy Shanks (Oct 26) 6-3, 5-7, 6-2

Reveal CommentAndy Shanks bt Andrew De Csillery (Oct 26) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "A very close match with Andrew. I broke in the first game including a lucky shank and then held my serve. After that we had many very close games with both players defending 15-40 / 0-40 down and just holding on several times. The second set continued in a similar vein and I managed to come out on top. Great match, very tight."  -- Andy
Reveal CommentAndrew De Csillery bt Laurence Hubbard (Oct 21) 6-2, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "This match started as for previous matches with me getting an early lead. However, for I think the first time, I managed to prevent Laurence from reeling me back in. As always the challenge is not to let him get his backhand going - some nice forehand angles helped me to do that. Laurence mixed things up in the second set with some serve and volleying that kept me in on my toes, but I did enough to stay ahead once I got the early break."  -- Andrew
Reveal CommentLiam Baldwin bt Andy Shanks (Oct 20) 6-4, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was nice to see a new face in division 1, Andy started the match well breaking my serve and took a 4-2 lead serving big and finishing off short balls with his forehand. At 2-4 30-30 was a big moment in the match with me serving i managed to hang in this game and then broke to get back all level before holding and breaking taking the set 6-4. In the 2nd set i raced to a 4-1 lead playing much more consistent in the rallies. After that it was all on serve and i won 6-3, very enjoyable match with a nice friendly set to finish. Andy Murray did it in Antwerp!! "  -- Liam

Player Comments:

  • "On a cold evening under the lights in Bovingdon David and I battled out two of the closest sets I played in this round. Most games went to deuce with very little between either of us. David showed amazing consistency throughout the match and also delivered punishing winners from both his forehand and backhand sides. In the second set David led 4-2 and was seemingly on his way to taking the match to a decider. However, after some more tight rallies I was able to dig deep and level the match at 4-4 before winning the final two games to take the match. Great credit to David as on another day he may well have taken the win. I look forward to many more matches against David - hopefully next time in the warmth of summer! "  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentKevin Bocker bt James Duncan (Dec 2) 6-1, 6-3

Player Comments:

  • "It was my first match against James and one I really enjoyed. It was a tight contest which isn't necessarily reflected in the final score. James served well throughout and played multiple powerful winners from both his forehand and backhand sides. A number of games went to deuce and could easily have gone either way. Rallies were long and gruelling, however, I was fortunate to win more of the key points. The second set was tight and went with serve until I was able to get the decisive break to make it 5-3. The final game was tense but in the end I was relieved to serve the match out. Thanks James for the game and I wish you all the best in your remaining matches. "  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentChristopher Perry bt David Mincer (Dec 1) 7-6 (7-4), 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great competitive first set that could have gone either way. Second set we were a little exhausted after such a tight first set but I managed to clinch it, helped a little from what I perceived to be fairly generous line calls by David. Thoroughly enjoyable and close game and I look forward to more in future."  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentKevin Bocker bt Gustavo Farina (Dec 1) 6-3, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "The first time I have played Gustavo and it was a really enjoyable match. Played on a sunny but cold afternoon, the match was competitive throughout. I started well and raced into an early lead but after some great attacking play from Gustavo the set was always in the balance. Gustavo served well but fortunately for me I found a way to win the first set 6-3. Gustavo then won the first game of the second set to 'love' and played some great tennis. However, I dug deep and found a way to grind out a run of games and ultimately take the second set. Thanks again Gustavo. Look forward to playing you again soon!"  -- Kevin

Reveal CommentDave Martell bt Joe Pritchard (Nov 17) 4-6, 6-3, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "First match against Joe and quite the tussle it was: lost a first set lead then the set and had to dig in and hang on. A 3rd set lead of 4-1 for me led to serving at 4-5 to stay in it! Relieved to close out but this bodes well for our future matches; some battles ahead! Cheers Joe and good luck. "  -- Dave

  • "A battle full of momentum shifts and a testing of late match play stamina. Hard fought throughout and I was lucky to pull back from 1-4 in the final set to clinch a win. Very enjoyable game."  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentMiles Robinson bt Joe Pritchard (Nov 16) 6-2, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "I was lucky to catch Joe on a day when I was playing well and he was slightly off his game: the outdoor court at Batchwood was slippery and that affected Joe more than me, and he couldn’t get into a rhythm. We had a long game at 2-0 in the first set which I managed to take and that was probably decisive in getting me a lead which I didn’t let go. Joe hit some impressive winners on his forehand but struggled on his serve which allowed me to stay one step ahead. Enjoyable game and good to meet you Joe - good luck with the other games and look forward to the next one, on a dry court hopefully!"  -- Miles
Reveal CommentKevin Bocker bt Christopher Perry (Nov 13) 6-0, 6-0

Player Comments:

  • "An enjoyable game against Chris in Harpenden on a crisp sunny day. The score didn't necessarily reflect the match as Chris has a number of break points but was unlucky not to convert them. Thanks for the game and I wish you all the best in your other matches. Kevin"  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentKevin Bocker bt Miles Robinson (Nov 12) 6-0, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed the game with Miles which was played on the indoor clay courts at Gosling - not my favourite surface but it did lend itself to some competitive rallies. I started strongly and moved into a 3-0 lead however the fourth game was a lot closer and I was fortunate to win the game and extend my lead before securing the set a couple of games later. The second set was a lot closer. After moving into a 3-0 lead, Miles fought back to make it 3-2. The next game saw 6 deuces and a string of break points however after some of the longest rallies of the match I was able to take the key game before going on to secure the set 6-2. Thanks Miles for the game. I look forward to our next match - hopefully next time not on clay!"  -- Kevin

  • "Always fun playing Dave, I think by our own admission neither were on top form. Usual LTL stuff, some amazing shots (Daves forehand mainly) and some inexplicably bad shots (few of them from both of us). 1st two sets speak for themselves, the 3rd set's a bit of an anomaly in our LTL history. Always a pleasure Dave, thanks for sorting, until next time!"  -- David
Reveal CommentDave Martell bt James Duncan (Nov 4) 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4

  • "Got what I hoped for tonight: another 2 hour pie fight with James. A topsy turvy match with the obligatory speedy second set and fortunately, tie-break avoidance in the third where I just managed to stem the comeback from 5:2 up to nick it. Cheers James: best of 3 it is then! See you next time and good luck. "  -- Dave

Player Comments:

  • "Energy sapping match! The first two sets were touch and go with consistently long rallies and plenty of court coverage from both players. The wind picked up in the final set along with some light drizzle, which coupled with fatigue led to both players looking to keep the points short and fortunately on this occasion i was able to come out on top. A thoroughly enjoyable match - best of luck for the rest of your matches Chris."  -- Joe
Reveal CommentMiles Robinson bt Gustavo Farina (Nov 3) 4-6, 6-4, 6-2

  • "First time I’ve played Gustavo, and a really enjoyable game. A tight first set went to 4-4, before Gustavo accelerated away to take the set 6-4, using his big serve to good effect. I took a 5-2 lead in the next set and had set points but Gustavo fought back to 5-4. I managed to steady the ship and take the set 6-4 as Gustavo’s serve became less consistent. That continued into the third set and after a tight opening few games I was able to finish off the set 6-2. Usual mix of great rallies, good shots and mistakes! Looking forward to playing again in the next round."  -- Miles

Player Comments:

  • "I played Joe on a cold evening in Bovingdon under lights. In a competitive first set, I was able to win the key points and race into a 5-0 lead. However, with some punishing forehand winners, Joe won the next two games in a row to put the pressure back on me. The next game was close but I was able to serve out the game and take the set 6-2. The second set included a number of very long rallies but with the temperature plunging I was able to seal the set 6-0. Thanks Joe for the game and wish you all the best for your other games in the group. "  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentChristopher Perry bt James Duncan (Oct 22) 6-2, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "Some great rallies and a pleasure to play James for the first time. James made a very impressive comeback from 5-0 down in the second and I felt the match slipping away after not being able to convert a half dozen or so match points. Just managed to pull through at the end and had some lucky net cords throughout."  -- Christopher
Reveal CommentKevin Bocker bt Dave Martell (Oct 22) 6-3, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Enjoyable game on a cold night under lights. Club rivalry was important as we both play at Bovingdon. Dave started really well with a quick break of serve. However, I was able to break straight back and after some close games I managed to stretch my lead in the first set to 5-1. However, Dave responded and won the next two games with some excellent cross court shots before a close game saw me finally secure the set 6-3. The second set followed a similar pattern as each game was closely contested. However, I was able to secure the second set 6-2 and ensure club honour is maintained - at least for the next month or two!"  -- Kevin
Reveal CommentDave Martell bt Miles Robinson (Oct 17) 7-6 (7-2), 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "With Miles on the comeback trail, I benefited from a bit of his rustiness and more than the usual quota of DFs. That said, I still needed to recover from 0:2 and 3:5 in the first before securing the tie-break! The second set was closer still and at 4:5 I survived 2 set points before closing a little later. The last game was anti-climactic for us both as the hooky bounces that had plagued us all evening (name and shame: court 21 indoor clay at Gosling is a shocker) decided some important points in my favour. Not how you want to win so it's hardcourt for us next time please Miles!! Good luck with your matches mate :)"  -- Dave

Second set was similar long deuces with a couple of vital points won then it was the final set to decide. Reveal CommentGytis Lenkauskas bt Ashley Guinn (Nov 24) 3-6, 7-5, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "Well, it was quite a match. Ashley had a much better start. He broke my serve 3 times in the first set. It was difficult to play on slippery outside court. I had a better start in second set and with double break I was leading 3:0. Ashley fought back (he was covering all the court and putting almost all the balls back to play) and was serving for the match at 4:5. Unfortunately double fault at 30:40 cost him a set. I was serving out for the match at 5:2 but Ashley managed to break my serve again. It was long gane with many deuces and he won his serving game. At 5:4 I was in trouble as I found my self 0:30 down. Luckily I managed to win important points and close the match. Many thanks for Ashley. "  -- Gytis
Reveal CommentGytis Lenkauskas bt Leslie Okomi (Nov 22) 6-2, 7-6 (7-5)

Player Comments:

  • "Good serving from Leslie Okomi. He had many chances to break my serve in 1st set. Unfortunately didn't converted any of them. 2nd set was tough. He served even better. Not many opportunities to break serve on both sides. Leslie had a chance to serve out for second set at 6:5. I managed to break back and win the tie-break. Many thanks for the match."  -- Gytis
Reveal CommentZac Sargusingh bt Thang To (Nov 17) 6-1, 7-5

Player Comments:

  • "An early start helped me more than Thang who took a little time to warm up, but once he had in the second, the match was really on. Many games went to deuce and he began to find the lines easily. It was nip and tuck at the business end and I felt lucky to just get over the line. Thanks for the game Thang and I look forward to our next match."  -- Zac
Reveal CommentThang To bt Ashley Guinn (Nov 16) 6-1, 6-1

Player Comments:

  • "It was a battle of two runners, I actually have never played with anyone running as much as Ashley and he was very good defensively. The scores hid away the fact that the points were long and many games were quite even. I enjoyed this match and look forward to playing Ashley again. "  -- Thang
Reveal CommentLouisa Clark bt Ashley Guinn (Nov 9) 6-0, 7-6 (9-7)

Player Comments:

  • "Ashley had trouble finding his rhythm in the first set; definitely not the case in the second. A challenging and physically demanding second set that swung one way and then the other, taking it to a tie break. Thankfully a strong serve took me to an 8-7 lead, followed by a rare drop shot error by Ashley and the set was mine. Am very relieved to have avoided a deciding set as Ashley was on the up. Thanks for a great match!"  -- Louisa
Reveal CommentThang To bt Lucy Hamilton (Nov 9) 7-5, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Great and even game with lots of running. Lucy played really well and aggressive with her forehands. I just defended a bit better and got the win. Looking forward to playing another game with Lucy in the future. "  -- Thang
Reveal CommentZac Sargusingh bt Ashley Guinn (Nov 3) 6-4, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "Throughout this match Ashley was like a ball machine, everything I thought was well placed was returned. Had those shots been returned with interest the outcome could have been different. Thanks for the game Ashley."  -- Zac
Reveal CommentThang To bt Louisa Clark (Nov 3) 6-4, 1-6, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "It was a strange game and I think I have a lucky win. I felt Louisa was more consistent with a dangerous back hand. It was just her intensity dropped a bit towards the end that gave me the deciding set. All the best for your next games. "  -- Thang
Reveal CommentZac Sargusingh bt Leslie Okomi (Nov 1) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "A match played indoors under slippery conditions due to condensation. Leslie regularly lost his footing whilst serving which affected his rhythm and the length of the rallies. Thanks for the game Leslie and look forward to playing again under better conditions. "  -- Zac
Reveal CommentLucy Hamilton bt Louisa Clark (Oct 27) 6-1, 6-2

Player Comments:

  • "The score belies a close match with a lot of deuces, especially on my service games. A particularly long game in my serve that I eventually won to go up 4-1 was pivotal and Louisa did struggle to win her service games. "  -- Lucy
Reveal CommentAshley Guinn bt Lucy Hamilton (Oct 21) 6-4, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "It was a really fun match. Lucy hit some cracking shots with her lefty forehand, very big and flat. I had to time my own shots very well. There was a crucial point in the second set where I was up 4-3 on my own serve, which went back on fourth on deuce for a while, but I managed to hold. Thanks for the game Lucy. "  -- Ashley
Reveal CommentZac Sargusingh bt Louisa Clark (Oct 20) 6-3, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "This was a close match. If there was a deciding factor it would be that I just held serve a bit more consistently than Louisa. That said I felt relieved to claw my way back in the second and no go to a third set. Thank you for the game Louisa. "  -- Zac

Player Comments:

  • "Thanks Rene, Joe mentioned that you were a bit of a quiet chap, but I saw no signs of it, we played a good game and had a lot of fun. Rene got off to a good start winning the first two games, and another two before the end of the 1st set. Rene managed to pick up in the 2nd and won, which left us level. In the third set Rene won only 1 game, but at which point I thought he would go on to win the match, no such luck though as I won the 3rd set quite decisively. Thanks again great match. Thomas."  -- Thomas

  • "I played well this morning, and enjoyed the early start. Joe has a consistent game, but today made some unnecessary faults. I think the result was fairly accurate according to level. However as I mentioned to Joe, I need to get my standard to a point where I plan my game shots and generally engage with more concentration in the way I play. Thank you Joe, I finally managed to wake up, and have at least one more match before the deadline next week. Thomas Beck."  -- Thomas

Reveal CommentThomas Beck bt Uday Radia (Nov 10) 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7)

Player Comments:

  • "That was a lot of fun. Uday is a much better player than others in this league. And a lovely winter morning also. Uday won the first set although we were level until the 7th game. In set two the situation was similar but I won eventually. Set three was the one which was most interesting, Uday mentioned I was serving more consistently. We went all the way to tie-break, and so the winner was only very slightly ahead. Thanks Uday, I hope we will get to play again, and best of luck. Cheers to all Thomas.."  -- Thomas

  • "Great match Richard, a very sociable tennis game with the hard courts of Batchwood. Both sets were close as the score reflects. In other words Richard had plenty of chance to win sets, but somehow the result was in my favour. Thanks for the lift home; Sunday buses are not great. I hope to play you again. Best of luck. Thomas."  -- Thomas

Player Comments:

  • "It is always great fun playing Rich who I know really well as we play at the same club- Cassiobury Tennis Club. We're quite closely matched which means that on some occasions he wins and on others, I do. But I can see that both our games have improved in the time that we have been playing. I was lucky enough to win this time, but I am sure Rich will be looking to get his revenge the next time we play. Best of luck for your other matches in the league Rich! "  -- Uday

Player Comments:

  • "Hi again from Tom, my game with Matt this morning was a lot of fun especially as the weather was so pleasant. The match was long and had some very good level of tennis. In set 1 I managed to stay ahead mostly, however in the second set it seemed that my troubles were over until Matt won 2 or 3 games in a row to make it 1 set all. However in set 3 things became more interesting. Matt at the end had several match points and the outcome was that I won, but only by a matter of a few points. Well done Matt, good to play you again, thanks Tom Beck."  -- Thomas
