Player Comments:

  • "Fantastic game closer than the score line suggests with several deuces. Great to play in calm, overcast conditions and a bit of warmth! "  -- Adi
Reveal CommentBelal Bareets bt Jordan Akinyemi (Mar 11) 4-6, 6-2, 6-4

Player Comments:

  • "I wasn’t my best in the first set after just having recovered from a cold still felt the weakness in the body. I played very poorly until 2-5 down after I woke up , but it was too late , Jordan got the first set. Second set was more myself my game went up . Final set we both played well neck on neck although Jordan almost made it 3-0. He played more attacking compared to the first two sets where he was defending more. But I somehow had that extra quality ! Some difficult calls at times and confusion of score … but an overall decent game. "  -- Belal

Reveal CommentBelal Bareets bt NJ Halley (Feb 19) 4-6, 6-3, 3-1 NJ Halley Retired

Player Comments:

  • "After midway through the first set we had a lot balls distracting our match from the court next to us that had just came in… despite that it was a good game first set NJ had the lead at 4 2 and then won 64. Second set like the first he gained a 2 0 lead but I turned around things to make it 6 3. Last set I had the chance to make it 3-0 but NJ just managed to make it 2 1. At 3 1 and 0-30 down he sadly had to retire due to a blister in his hand . I was serving very well with 4 aces I think that’s my record in a match . NJ had very good low and hard cross angle forehand which were very tough to get to!"  -- Belal

Reveal CommentBelal Bareets bt Sanket Desai (Feb 15) 6-4, 7-6 (7-1)

Player Comments:

  • "Always a tough match playing Sanket. A h2h he led 2-0. We both weren’t 100% physically him lacking match fitness me having played many in a row. Although it was a very good game . First game of set lasted about 15 minutes. He took a 2-0 lead in the first set. I came back with 4-2. He saved a few match points but eventually I got it 6-4. Second set Sanket almost made it 2-0 . But still stayed 1-1 very neck on neck until the tie breaker , prior to the tie breaker I saved 2 set points. To take it to a tie breaker. In the tie breaker it was one sided. I was very consistent today and motivated. "  -- Belal
Reveal CommentBelal Bareets bt Mark Jenkins (Feb 12) 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3)

Player Comments:

  • "My 4th match in 3 days across the board. Honestly speaking it was tougher than I thought . First set at 3-3 I found the opening for the break . Second set my energy lvls were deteriorating. Mark played well in that one . At 5-1 I was more strategic and didn’t bother coming back to preserve energy. Final set I was 4 0 up thought had in the bag , Mark’a resilience paid of , almost made 5-4 . I change tactics and preserved energy by just hitting slowly to oppose to my usual power game … It got dragged to a tie breaker , were my record speaks for itself . Very tough and good match . "  -- Belal

Player Comments:

  • "Firstly, I just want to say thank you to Sam for kindly agreeing to play the match over two lunchtimes when I had to curtail our first meeting due to work pressures – much appreciated. Sam played really well on both days but especially in the second set when he charged into a 4-1 lead and I had to play very well just to stay in the games and gradually claw my way back. Thanks for an excellent match Sam and good luck for the rest of the league. "  -- Tom
